old thread was too old.SPOILERthe twist was that the people were not who they thought they were. mainly cleveland wasn't the guardian. then the final twist was reggie being the guardian. i know it wasn't a complete flip of the film like the other 2 mnight movies but they werre twists.would have definately been cooler if she was discovered to be evil.I love how everybody knew the exact twist coming in the village o and the water thing in signs added up. someone said the water in the atmosphere would have killed them but i can buy the fact that it was only liquid water and not vapor that they were allergic to.Dude's movies are amazing.[Edited on January 13, 2007 at 3:26 AM. Reason : more about signs]

I'm in the minority, but I thought Lady was a cool flick.

What a shitty, self-absorbed hack.By going so easy on him, you might say I LET HIM OFF THE HOOK.

the twist in the village actually was one of my first guesses.and lady in the water was absolutely terrible

I like all his other movies. Lady in the Water was so ridiculously disappointing I couldn't take it.

maybe they had never encountered water before, how do you know it can kill you if you've never seen it before??
1/13/2007 11:52:32 AM
I too liked Lady in the Water.
1/13/2007 12:09:38 PM
i liked lady in the water

I have really liked every single movie this guy has doneall he had to do was make this movie not completely suck and I would've been thrilled with itbut it absolutely sucked, worst movie of the year in my opinion
1/13/2007 1:51:58 PM
I enjoyed Lady in the Water.
1/13/2007 6:22:34 PM
I enjoy his movies because they are different than the same old stuff that comes out every weekend.
1/14/2007 1:17:17 AM
well, ill give him the fact that he triessigns, lady in the water, the village were all really bad imo.sixth sense was good back in the day. never actually saw unbreakable. heard it was decent
1/14/2007 2:06:07 AM
What exactly didn't you all like about Lady in the Water?I'll give you that Signs was bad, but that's pretty much his only outright "bad" movie, IMO.
1/14/2007 2:26:42 AM
hehe, Signs, Lady in the Water, The Village were my favorites. 6th Sense I never cared for, Unbreakable was eh? But I don't watch movies based on their reviews/hype/cast/crew (I learned my lesson from Congo, great book by the way). And I certainly don't want a movie to be a formulaic copy of a previous flick...in other words, who cares if this movie didn't have a 'twist'?Me.

I didn't like Lady in the Water because it just seemed like it wasn't even trying. SPOILER-ISH AHEAD.The landlord guy gets all these people together, and basically says, "Hey, I have this goddess-type in my apartment, and I need you to fulfill these crazy-ass roles." And instead of the people looking at him like he's crazy, instead of having ANY amount of conflict, they all instantly go along with it. Everyone believes him right off the bat without a hitch. It all just seemed so stupid.

I haven't seen it but i do wish the twist was that she was evil and the wolves or w/e were good in their little alternate world a la south park furry little cute animals anti-christ
1/14/2007 1:26:08 PM
for all we knew maybe they knew water was poisonous but what they came to earth for was worth the risk. What makes you think they didn't think it would be poisonous to us as well since we only live on land?

I enjoyed Lady in the Water. Then again, I don't have that discerning taste when it comes to film.
1/14/2007 10:00:42 PM
^^sorry, I didn't look at it that way. Your opinion is infinitely more correct than mine or others.
1/14/2007 10:56:21 PM
it wasnt that i didnt like the twist or lack of twist in lady in the water. it just never appealed to me at any point really. it was boring and nothing really happened. then again im not really a fan of his, i just went because friends of mine wanted to go.[Edited on January 14, 2007 at 11:52 PM. I rented it the other day mainly for my wife to see, and we had a good time. Apparently I am not a fucking film snob and can suspend my reality better than others to simply appreciate the escape from reality that a movie gives. While I do appreciate a better story, acting, etc. I can also enjoy a movie that many people think blows. For example, I enjoyed Waterworld, which was fucking horrible by most accounts.
