Oh shit, not another great MMA fighter pissing on his own legacy with a comeback! So far in MMA the only fighter who was able to come back to the fight game successfully was Frank Trigg. The list of those who stunk up their legacies by coming back, however, is much longer: Vitor Belfort, Roice Gracie, Mark Kerr, Ken Shamrock, Tank Abbott, etc.

^ The man cam eat. He does commentary for UFC. He is also a broadcaster for The Fight Network in Canada. He's got ways of making a good living without pissing all over his legacy, including, but not limited to becoming an IFL coach, doing more TV/movies, etc

hes gonna fight tim sylvia

and hes not actually washed up, he still competed regularly in submission grappling and is in excellent shape

i always thought he retired too early

i wouldnt say tank abbott "stunk up" his career, i love him to death but he was one of those fighters mma was just destined to pass by, he wasnt really even one of the best of those guys

*sigh*

Randy Coture is done for. And if he loses to tim then what? All I can say is there is a REASON why this guy retired in the first place.

He might be a good match up for tim tho. If he promises not to "stand up" with him

I want to see him grab tims ass

I think he retired exactly when it was time for him to retire -- not too early and not too late. He reached the top of his career, and with his second loss to Chuck, was just starting to come back down, so he decided to retire before coming down too far... that and because he was already 42. If he comes back now, he's gonna get worse, not better.

Unfortunately, I don't see Randy's grappling being enough to beat Tim Sylvia. He is certainly a great grappler -- and he's proven it with his recent grappling victory over Ronaldo Souza -- but if Jeff Monson, a two time Abu Dhabi winner, could not submit Sylvia, Couture won't either.

to be fair, that was only cuz monson is like 5'4", he couldnt hope to even attempt a submission once he had gotten tim to the ground

monson landed a few nice overhand rights on tim while striking tho, which was amazing

incase no one know (icedalex prolly knew) monson wil fight fedor in russia for bodogFight

^ Yes, I do know about Monson fighting Fedor, and I do know that Pride is fucking themselves in the ass by letting Cro Cop get away and letting Fedor fight in non-title fights instead of defending his title, but that's beside the point. Now, to get back to the topic at hand, I've trained in Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, and I can tell you that height and reach are not advantageous in that sport. In fact, I'm 6'3" and shortly before I stopped training I got arm barred by a petite girl who was 5' at most (but had a blue belt). In his fight with Monson, Sylvia clearly showed that he had more on the ground than people gave him credit for, and that's that.

Hard for me to believe Randy is coming back...definitely a bad move. I agree, he retired exactly when he should. He doesn't want to get tangled up in the heavy weight division again, with arlovski moving back towards the top and cro cop coming in. I love randy, but he should have stayed outside of the cage. Best of luck to him.

And by the way, Fedor is going to embarass the Snowman Monson.

randy had a stroke diddnt he? a little after his first retirement i think.

I think it will be a waste of time and i really wouldn't care to see it. i absolutely hate the whole

"coming out of retirement" gig. especially when you're like 43 yrs old! I fear for his health...

There's a possibility that it COULD be a decent fight, but I don't see that happening. Maybe so though. And yeah I agree that there is a huge difference. Embrassment = Silva vs Franklin

That fight made the UFC look small-time.

But Franklin is actually better than he looked in that one.
