Does anyone know anything about the target archery ranges in the area? I know I can use Google to find out where they are, but I would like some personal input about price and quality and the like.

I would prefer outdoor, and a place without high membership cost. Anywhere in Raleigh, Cary or Durham is good for me.

why not get a target and go somewhere open and shoot? like the woods. or are you looking for competition and advice?

I would like a place where I can talk to other people. But I also don't know of any places that have enough open space where I could shoot without kids running around or something else that would make it dangerous. I basically need a flat field with 100 meters of open space. Plus targets are expensive and bulky, so it wouldn't be too easy to just pack it up and take it somewhere.

Well, I will probably only shoot at 70 or so, but you need it to be a little bigger than the distance you're actually shooting. I have a recurve too.
