A couple of years ago, Socks`` started a thread trying to get various Soap Boxers who are still in the Raleigh area together for dinner or drinks, so we could put names to faces and have actual conversations and whatnot.Even though that sonofabitch organized it (and thereby gave Gamecat an excuse to bring up the same thing over....and over....and over.... ), I rather enjoyed it, as I have other occasions when I actually got to meet people from this site. So, Socks`` being long gone and the last summit being years past by now, I thought I'd take another crack at it.And...yeah. If you think you might be down, post or shoot me a PM; if anyone is actually interested (and I doubt it) I'll arrange for a time and place conducive to maximum attendance.

i remember that lame shit. wow what a wankfest that was. i'm glad i didn't go, judging from the pictures. jesus christanyway, isn't socks`` working at The Point now as a waiter? talk about getting life-pwned[Edited on January 6, 2007 at 11:55 PM. Reason : s]

Well, first off, I'm not sure what exactly you were expecting the pictures to look like...a giant fight? Tons of beautiful, naked, big-titted women? It was just a chance to get together in person to shoot the shit over food and drinks.Though, admittedly, El Rodeo was kind of a mediocre hosting place. Hopefully this time we can shoot for something a little better (read: with cheaper booze).

Wow, Excoriator acting bitter and obnoxious, who woulda thought?I got my political discussion quota filled last night. The deterioration of the discussions on this site as of late (ie: stupid threads about cindy sheehan, pointless arguments about how evil america is) don't give me a good impression of what it might be like.i'm open to it, sure.
1/7/2007 2:16:54 PM
Well, yes, stupid threads have been on the rise lately, but stupid discussions are easier to stamp out, and one hopes that anybody who'd want to meet other SBers would be of a slightly higher caliber.
1/7/2007 2:26:36 PM
I'd go if there was a promise of no pictures, no fat jokes, and we don't call it a summit.
1/7/2007 4:03:25 PM
it must be called a summit.also, i dont want to go, but i am more than willing to act as security and tear gas randy and kris so they cant get in.
1/7/2007 4:08:15 PM
i'll show up and mock people
1/7/2007 4:10:26 PM
HAHAHAH - I'd come up from GA for that one!
1/7/2007 4:21:22 PM
if i went i wouldn't tell anyonei would just sit at a different table and laugh at all of you
1/7/2007 4:52:40 PM
Seriously, I'd go if Randy, hooksaw, GGMon, Josh####, Pryderi, JerryGarcia, and salisburyboy were planning on showing, just to hear the bombast w/o substance.

1/8/2007 12:52:40 AM
so, why do you get so riled up about clinton/edwards/cindy sheehan/communists/socialists/etc.? I mean, it sounds like you have this deep-seated hatred of certain parties that makes you look pretty ridiculous, especially why you get all angry-like. now that is definately a characteristic of someone like randy.not to mention the anger you show towards some stupid insults on teh intarwebs.[Edited on January 8, 2007 at 1:32 AM. ok, but how does that change the fact that:
1/8/2007 2:39:16 AM
^ (1) What is my party? (2) I love freedom. I fucking loathe fucking socialism, which is a pit stop on the road to communism. (3) Your "clinton/edwards" (sic) couple are self-centered, lying A-holes. Hell, even most of Edwards' hometown doesn't support his '08 run: "Instead of good luck, they say, 'Good riddance'" (Gilbert Baez, Channel 11). And (4) "cindy sheehan" (sic) has gone from a legitimately grieving mother to a tool of the Left to an anti-American propagandist. I don't like anti-American people or statements--you are obviously okay with both.Remember, these are my positions. I don't care whether you like them or agree with them or not. I made an exception to my Do-Not-Respond-to-PinkandBlack policy. The answers should have been obvious, though, which leads me to believe you are just trying to fuck with me--again.[Edited on January 8, 2007 at 2:59 AM. Reason : .]

Communism is actually about freedom, freedom from the sorts of ills and alienation you find in capitalism. Not to say the actual implementations of this have done a good job so far (seeing as how nobody has actually implemented communism), but whatever. To claim that communism is inherently anti-freedom is kind of ignorant, or you just don't have a good definition of freedom.
1/8/2007 3:04:56 AM
im sorry, by party i didnt mean political party, but rather "groups of people or individuals you get enraged over". i have no idea what your affiliation is and i dont care. but your insistance that im anti-american b/c i dont bitch about cindy sheehan, and your refering to clinton/edwards as my clinton/edwards is pretty dumb and not based on anything i ever said. i could give 2 fucks about any of them.furthermore, questioning the president or being critical of gov. war policy doesn't make one "anti-american", unless america should be represented by one galvanizing way centered around a leader that should always be respected. typically, we reserve terms like "extreme nationalism" or even "fascism" for that. democracy=dissent.you know, youre the one that blew up in the first place because i dared to attack your position on something (the hell if i know or care what it was), and youre the one that is getting so bent out of shape about it. it's not you, it's your reasoning on so many subjects, which i think quite a few of us find a bit silly.i think is hilarious and flattering that you actually have a policy dedicated to me. /stupid argument. go to bed.^i prefer to define that as social libertarianism, mostly because the term communism has so many negative connotations due to the cold war now. but yeah, in their true forms, they are one in the same, and stateless.[Edited on January 8, 2007 at 3:15 AM. As much I think hooksaw is all wrong, wrong, wrong, this thread is about the summit. Let's not get sidetracked.I'm totally coming. No pictures though. I've worked really hard to keep my ever-expanding figure off TWW--maybe some public humiliation is just what I need though? But seriously, I'm totally down for this. Even if it's just me and GOP getting hammered.
1/8/2007 3:29:44 AM
^^ I don't give a shit what you think is "silly." I have not attempted to build a coalition here, but I am supremely confident that a number of TWW-ers find your positions absurdly laughable.I fully support the right of you and others to criticize the US government and its officials--I do so myself toward both sides of the aisle and in between. I only wish that some would not (1) do it so often and (2) would direct some of it at the Left, which so richly deserves much of the criticism. I will NEVER support publicly criticizing our country while on foreign soil--if you can't understand why, I will never be able to explain it to you. About the Left, I am currently reading a book titled Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy by Peter Schweizer. Would you please get a copy from the library so we can discuss it? ^^ and ^^^ I would show more respect to both of you if every reply to one of my posts didn't include "ignorant," "stupid," or "dumb." It's just not true, fellas. You may disagree with me, but I don't base my positions on particles floating out in the ether. I take sound positions based on facts. In addition, please don't attempt to educate me. I am also currently reading Rhetoric and Marxism by James Arnt Aune--among many other books. I fully understand the difference between Marxist communism and the stateless social organization you are alluding to. I daresay it is you two who could do with some educating.

1/8/2007 3:53:20 AM
^ What? My position is quite clear: If I were on foreign soil, I absolutely would not publicly criticize the United States of America. Hell, I probably wouldn't even do so in private. PS: I thought topics other than the "Summit" were digression?[Edited on January 8, 2007 at 4:22 AM. Reason : .]

Oh, you meant that if you were on foreign soil, you wouldn't criticize the government.I thought you meant that while the "country" was on foreign soil, you wouldn't criticize the government. Like, whenever we're at war, you wouldn't say anything.I still think it's lame not to criticize the US government in other countries. What have we got to hide? Being able to get critical is kickass.(You did present a false dilemma though. I wouldn't have said anything except you were so quick to point one out the other day when it wasn't even a false dilemma.)Enough digression...Where to have our summit?[Edited on January 8, 2007 at 4:04 AM.
