anyone have experience/preference with one method over the other?

i'd like to maximize my profit but minimize the hassle (obviously) -- my roommate is going to have to ship the tickets for me because i'm out of the country (reason why i'm selling them to begin with) so i don't want to create too much trouble for her

prices on stubhub seem steep but i'm curious if all those tickets will sell for the prices listed (would be great for me, but seems too good to be true)

game is next weekend, but day/time not set yet -- will probably try to post them this weekend

I would say StubHub for the buyer's security. I'm sure that ticket will go for $Texas, and I would never entrust that much money to ebay for something as easy to fake as a ticket.

i thought about using stubhub for some of my football tickets, but I was worried about how easy it would be to get stung for scalping on those sites. is there some sort of a loophole with stubhib that invalidates the scalper laws?

i thought nc only allowed $3 over face value.

No, there isn't a loophole. And don't forget that when you sell on EBay or stubhub, you are suppossed to report the income to the IRS also.

Granted, the police & the IRS are unlikely to go after someone for occasionally selling tickets, they certainly could if they wanted to (since there would be a record of the transaction). And they have for high profile events like the superbowl.

Also, in some instances, your tickets could be invalidated for scalping. The Hurricanes did this last year for the finals tickets.

Personally, for these reasons (& no commission), I'd use craigslist if possible.

as far as i can tell, california only prohibits the scalping of tickets on site of the event -- so there's no issue of selling them above face value otherwise

stubhub's 15% commission sucks, but it might be my easiest route (ebay's off the list of options)

i'll probably list them on craigslist and am putting the burden of mailing/distributing them on a couple of friends who will benefit greatly by a chargers win -- AFC championship tickets as a christmas/new years/thanks for being awesome friends present

well, on eBay you're always bidding on an "NC State magnet" that comes with 4 tickets to the OSU game...or something goofy like that, but i figure it must present a loophole that keeps you from getting in trouble.

my point is this - cops might not want to go after individual sellers, but if it's illegal, its only a matter of time before stubhub gets taken down. their prices are ridiculously high compared to face value...

heh, i'm trying to buy tickets for that game, and stubhub won't let me do a local pickup yet. i'll be flying out of town (mclean, va) to LAX on friday, so shipping isn't an option for me anymore.

i think the humans on the stubhub hotline can probably arrange a pickup, but their office isn't open at this hour
