Quote :
"VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Jan. 3) - In what has become an annual tradition of prognostications, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Tuesday God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would result in "mass killing" late in 2007.

"I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."

Robertson said God told him during a recent prayer retreat that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September.

Robertson said God also told him that the U.S. only feigns friendship with Israel and that U.S. policies are pushing Israel toward "national suicide."

Robertson suggested in January 2006 that God punished then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with a stroke for ceding Israeli-controlled land to the Palestinians.

The broadcaster predicted in January 2004 that President Bush would easily win re-election. Bush won 51 percent of the vote that fall, beating Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.

In 2005, Robertson predicted that Bush would have victory after victory in his second term. He said Social Security reform proposals would be approved and Bush would nominate conservative judges to federal courts.

Lawmakers confirmed Bush's 2005 nominations of John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court . But the president's Social Security initiative was stalled.

"I have a relatively good track record," he said. "Sometimes I miss."

In May, Robertson said God told him that storms and possibly a tsunami were to crash into America's coastline in 2006. Even though the U.S. was not hit with a tsunami, Robertson on Tuesday cited last spring's heavy rains and flooding in New England as partly fulfilling the prediction. "

what a frigging idiot.

it's be one thing for him to say "this is what i think it going to happen"

its totally different to say "god told me this is going to happen"

and since his predictions don't always happen hes basically saying that

a) god lies to him or
b) god doesn't know what going to happen

the other two options are

c) hes batshit crazy or
d) he's a circus side show act and is just trying to get his name in the news

I say its a mix of c and d.

I think it's a mix of a and c. Pat is batshit crazy, so God lies to him for the chuckle factor.

'Cause God is cool like that.

the old testament lays out punishment of death by stoning for a prophet who claims god's authority to predict something which doesn't happen

Whoops, thought the thread title was saying to predict what Pat Robertson would say this year.

In which case, it'll be more of the same thing he does every night, Pinky.

Not a prediction, but still...

Quote :
"Robertson: Too much plastic surgery gives people "Oriental" eyes

On the February 7 edition of the Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club, host Pat Robertson said that people who have received too much plastic surgery "got the eyes like they're Oriental" while he put his fingers up to the side of his face.

Robertson and CBN special features producer Kristi Watts were talking about Fox News host Greta Van Susteren's plastic surgery. Robertson said that Van Susteren "looks great." Watts then asked whether Robertson had "seen someone who got [plastic surgery] too much." Robertson replied, "Yeah, they got the eyes like they're Oriental, and, you know, it's all pulled."

As Media Matters for America noted, Robertson has called Islam a "Christian heresy" and said that "Jewish people" are "very thrifty" and "extraordinarily good business people." Media Matters also noted that after officials in Orlando, Florida, voted in 1998 to fly rainbow flags from city lampposts during the annual Gay Days event at Disney World, Robertson issued the city a warning: "I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you. ... [A] condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It'll bring about terrorist bombs, it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes and possibly a meteor."

From the February 7 edition of the Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club:

ROBERTSON: You know there's a lady named Greta Van Susteren, who's on Fox.

WATTS: Yeah.

ROBERTSON: Got a very popular --

WATTS: Oh, I saw her.

ROBERTSON: She looked gorgeous last night, but she had a really serious facial deal. And it did a wonder --

WATTS: Sister needed help.

ROBERTSON: Sister got the help.

WATTS: Sister -- she needed some help, yeah.

ROBERTSON: But she got it. She just looks great, and she's so popular.

WATTS: But have you ever seen someone who got it too much, and so they come up to you, and they're like, "Pat, how are you doing? It's so good to see you."

ROBERTSON: Yeah, they got the eyes like they're Oriental, and, you know, it's all pulled. So, make sure you do it right. But -- it's -- that's one way you can go, but it'll cost you five or six thousand dollars probably. All right. What else? "
