I'm trying to connect my laptop to my tv so I can go from 18-20ish inches to 30 inches. I've got the laptop and tv attached with the video cord (normal cord you connect a desktop computer to a monitor).

Upon start-up, I got the "new hardware connected" or whatever popup. I've gone through all the my tv's sources; "composite," "s-video," "component," "HDMI," "VGA," "VGA-Component," and "Tuner." Tuner has all my cable channel stations and whatnot.

I couldn't see the stuff from my computer on my TV.

Any ideas?

K, did all that.

Went into Multiple Display.

Clicked Intel(R) Dual Display Clone.
Primary Device: Notebook.
Secondary: Monitor.

Went through all the TV sources again. This time VGA apparently has a signal. But screen is black. Anymore tips?
