When does the class rank on tracs update? Mine currently says Class Rank effective at the end of the 06 Spring Semester... anyone know when it will update to show class rank effective at the end of the 06 Fall Semester?

I'd call R&R tomorrow if it's a need to know basis ... they can probably find out for you. Otherwise, my guess would be around the end of this month, allowing time for grade corrections and other things to process.[Edited on January 2, 2007 at 8:53 PM. Reason : .]

It should be updated by January 23rd. As Perlith said we wait to get most of the grade changes etc. in before we update it.I will check tomorrow to see if I can find the actual date.

Does anyone even look at class rank? Do employers or grad schools care?
1/3/2007 2:23:59 AM
Uh, yes.

Can someone clarify what all those tech. mean.

^ yes everything is for your current class standing[Edited on January 4, 2007 at 5:20 AM. Reason : .]

1/4/2007 9:10:58 AM
^ curious about this as well
1/4/2007 6:33:43 PM
^^^pretty brave to post that
1/4/2007 7:24:15 PM
what is your major damn?I can't believe there are only 55 freshmen in chem e.
1/4/2007 11:58:26 PM
i can't believe that there are only 1166 juniors in engineering while the senior class has 2045[Edited on January 5, 2007 at 12:02 AM. Reason : ]

Seniors are classified as any student having XXX amount of hours. There maybe a lot of 5/6/10 year engineering majors here.

^I asked that a couple of years ago and I don't remember ever really getting a good answer. I'd shoot a PM to firegrl23 and see what she has to say. Also have to consider triple-majors, dropped majors, etc. with this as well. (From a low-level technical standpoint, probably not hard to implement. From a systems point of view, probably a pain in the butt).

we can only pull class ranks for 1st majors.
1/9/2007 8:40:22 PM
Does class rank go by weighted or unweighted GPA?
1/9/2007 10:14:47 PM
This isn't high school. It goes by your N.C. State GPA. I assume you're referrring to +/- grading. You can earn up to a 4.33 for an A+, but overall GPA is capped at 4.00. If you maintain a 4.0, all of your class ranks are #1.
1/10/2007 2:19:08 AM
yes that means you are #1 ... but there could be 10 #1s. just like we typically have 50 or so valedictorians.
1/10/2007 6:40:20 AM
^^ and ^ perhaps weighted and unweighted was not the right wording, but that answered my question, thanks.
1/10/2007 11:46:06 AM
im not totally sure about this, but right now in my dept. (statistics) i have a 4.00 (i had an A+ and an A for my grades in statistics) and im number 2 in my class for statistics...so does having an A instead of an A+ but still a 4.00 put me behind someone?
1/10/2007 11:57:05 AM
okay, here's another questioni have a grade that is LA and should be coming up within the next week or twodoes the class rank update throughout the semester, or is it just once at the end of every semester?
1/10/2007 8:04:04 PM
^^Do you have a 4.0 overall, though? Don't round up, either. Departmental rank is not restricted to your grades within that department. You may have a 4.0 average in statistics courses, but if you have a 3.99 overall GPA, you would be #2 in the department (or lower, depending on the number with 4.0's).
