Bogus. There are dozens of iPod knock-offs from China that play MP3s. If you don't want to suffer through iTunes or an iPod, get your music some other way and then use someone else's player.

you can, just not legally

you have to recompile the kernel without the special apple chip part that the software looks for whne you install it

you should be able to download the dvd image where you can install osx on a pc

My camera captures video in quicktime. The odd thing is, I have yet to find anything that won't play it (my DVD player is evidently able to pull the MJPEG out of the .mov stream).

Uh, self-PWNT maybe. It uses QuickTime AUDIO codecs to play audio files. This includes MP3, WAV, AIFF, and AAC. You don't even know what you're talking about. Clearly, you don't care for this, but that is how the program is, and always has been set up to play media content. Video support is relatively recent. It used QuickTime well before video support was added.

I think the point people are missing about being sued over having a monopoly is that companies require you to use only their product. If they have most of the market and you have you use all their stuff, they can drive up prices and force the consumer to pay more, and still drive out the smaller companies.

the point of the law is because a competitive market will make better products at cheaper prices

i actually like itunes better than near any other music software ive used and have for years. diff strokes for diff folks i guess.

PS my itunes idles around 4k higher than WMP...wooptyfreakindo, doesnt dent my system. and upon further testing my WMP runs 1k higher on average than itunes while in use playing the same audio tracks
