this broke about 15 minutes ago on mike & mike.

he was shot while in a limo after leaving a club in denver early this morning. a female who was with him was also killed. broncos staff, coaches, and players have been notified. more details later.

he was just 24 years old.

alright, i wouldn't go that far. he only just finished up his second year, and he had a promising career. definitely wasn't "damn good" yet. he's had 124.0 tackles, 1 sack and 6 interceptions (2 for td's) the past two seasons. the broncos fans have bitched about him all season. i've watched just 3 denver games, but williams got beat alot. he did pick rivers off for 6 points, but that was the only play he made in the two games this season. philip picked on him in the 2nd game. the memorable td pass to gates was against williams (and bailey came over to help).

there were two others shot, a man and a woman. the woman is now not being reported as also being dead. the status of the man and woman are unknown at this moment; as are their identities. a denver area writer said that they were taken to another hospital than darrent williams, but he didn't say why. he wasn't asked either. i got me curious about special treatment, but that's a whole other topic. the reporter also said that he spoke to a team official who told him that hte shooting may have been "an accident". the official speculated that william's white hummer limo was mistaken for someone else's.

tatum bell on cold pizza this morning: he was a teammate of williams at okie state as well as with the broncos. bell was barely coherent (understandably) in the phone interview, but i was able to pick out a few things. he said he last spoke to williams on the phone earlier in the night, and they discussed where they wanted to go out. bell and some others went to a different club than darrent williams. according to bell, there was an altercation at the club williams was at. jay asked him if darrent was involved, and bell said he didn't know, or something to that affect. he didn't really answer the question. he also reiterated what the team official said in regards to williams being mistaken for someone else.
