There are plenty of threads like this, but the values are all different.A guy ran a redlight and hit me and my 98 jeep grand cherokee head on. After looking online, I think insurance will be giving me 5k to replace it. if I fall in love with a vehicle I could spend up in to 7k-8k range but I don't really want to do that. I can't afford payments right now.I would specify car, suv, truck etc... but with such a low amount of money to spend I can't be too picky. I am really just looking for some suggestions from you guys, something that would be fun to drive, still be relatively reliable and in my price range.

Some options for about that money:Impractical but fun: Mazda MiataSomewhat sensible but fun: BMW 328isVery sensible yet still can be entertaining: SAAB 900 turbo or 9-3, Nissan MaximaMore luxurious, less fun: Mercedes C230, maybe a Lincoln LS V6Very practical yet much nicer than they look: Volvo S90 or V90 - last of the RWD platform - though the S80's are falling into that range if you don't mind FWD: they are huge and silent cruisers.[Edited on December 26, 2006 at 8:53 AM.
