pretty tought to emulate todays systems without a monster pc. why don't u jsut buy a used gamecube for like 40$
12/22/2006 2:35:07 AM
I did. But you cannot play downloaded ROMs on an actual gamecube.
12/22/2006 9:50:25 AM
technically, they're ISOs
12/22/2006 10:14:00 AM
^^Yes, you can
12/22/2006 10:49:35 AM
i wanna know if there is a GC emulator you can put on a modded xbox?
12/22/2006 11:00:53 AM
^true, i want to know that too
12/22/2006 11:42:51 AM
don't think the XBOX has the hp to handle it.though i could be wrong.
12/22/2006 12:34:24 PM
is the gamecube any more advanced than the xbox? I always thought the xbox was slightly ahead of the GC and PS2
12/22/2006 2:02:28 PM
Guys, xbox can barely run a Super Nintendo emulator. You have no idea what you are talking about, so just stop asking.

oh ok.. i wont try to learn anything by asking questions.. i'll just realize i have no idea and not askand my xbox has no trouble with a n64 emulator... so thats bs on the super nintendo one
12/22/2006 7:52:33 PM
yeah. noen doesn't know a whole lot, but he won't tell you that.
12/22/2006 7:53:38 PM
^I never claim to know "a whole lot". Do you? And who gives a fuck? I'm going to give a detailed response just because you piss me off by constantly questioning my ability to know about anything. How many times have you EVER given advice on this board?N64 to Gamecube is a big damn leap. And this isn't like a computer. Each system has custom chipsets in them to render video, audio et al. Emulators run these specialized chipsets in software. So the newer the console, the more specialized the chipset and faster it runs, and requires exponentially more power to run in software. So the jump in software emulation requirements from the SNES to N64 are 2-3x, the requirements for the gamecube are much higher.Right now the only Gamecube emulator out there that can run anything is Dolphin, and it only runs a handful of games properly. Even then, the performance is horrible. On my Athlon 64 3500+, 2gb ram, 6800gt 256mb video card, I get 3-6 frames per second at 320*240 resolution. Considering the specs of the xbox in comparison, no way in hell it's going to run.

Noen didn't build an emulator with an arcade cabinet. i swear.
12/23/2006 12:05:00 AM
Noen will tell you what's on Google but for a price of questioning god!~
12/23/2006 12:40:08 AM
^^Yea, you'd think since I'd spent over 500 hours building a custom cabinet setup and going through 30+ emulators, dozens of frontends and a lot of custom coding, I might know a little about this shit. But you know Crede, I don't know about anything
12/23/2006 12:44:04 AM
Wow. 500 hours?Have you any know-how? Jesus.
12/23/2006 1:30:47 AM
thanks Noen.. thats more of the response i was looking for
12/23/2006 3:17:51 AM
^^ I rebuilt the thing from the ground up three times. Each time trying different methods, different hardware, different software configurations. Also documented the entire process, detailing all the instructions, parts lists, suppliers et al. Planned on writing a book/ebook/guide out of it but work took over. Not to mention the restoration of the cabinet itself took about 75 hours, which is working pretty diligently to preserve the original wood, patch holes, pull paint to get it color matched, repaint the thing with the original laquer, sand, paint, repeat, make a new rear door and inset, refabricate the mounting frame for a larger monitor, fabricate brackets for that monitor, build a steel control panel, and find and applying a new set of original vinyls.Really man, keep it coming.

you sound like a huge loser
12/23/2006 7:16:21 AM
Thanks, I really care. What, praytell, hobbies do you have that are so much less "loser-like"? Keep in mind this was also several years ago, I don't do this shit everyday.
12/23/2006 7:20:09 AM
i just spent 800 hours googling stuff so i could look like i know everything. i think im going to document this and write an ebook.
12/23/2006 7:24:29 AM
While it may be a revelation to you, I actually use quite a few other resources outside of google. Just happens that most people don't have access to, or are too damn lazy to find most of them. How many journals, trade publications, reference books, or instructional guides/books/manuals have you dug into this fall?

ru tryin to run roms or backups??? either way gamcube $40+modchip$30 an dit will play snes/ nes roms + backups
12/23/2006 11:50:46 AM
there is a gamecube emulator, it runs like shit. I get MAYBE 4-5fps with a 7900gt, a64 x2 4400+ (1mb L2 per core) and a gig of ram. you wouldn't think it would be this difficult since the gamecube kernel is like 2mbit and the system runs on a 485mhz ppc (open standard) with an ati video chipset thats not very different than older dx9/dx8 radeons, but alas, it does not.just an fyi: xbox = 733mhz 128k cache with 64mb of ram and a 32mb geforce2 mx
