^i would listen to this guy...he is very computer savvy- i also always used http://www.ncsu.edu/antivirus , which is symantec...i'm gonna get what he just said

Be careful if Symantec was previously loaded on the computer, I've heard AVG and Symantec do not like each other and that you have to completely remove Symantec, or problems might happen.

i've witnessed the AVG vs. Symantec battle. They dont get along well.

Being that the ultimate fate was really in my hands, i chose to go with AVG

AVG, CCleaner, and Ad-Ware from lavasoft are my 3 choice programs

Spyware Prevention: Windows Defender
Spyware Removal: Spybot Search and Destroy
Adware Removal: Lavasoft's Ad-Aware
General Cleanup and Registry Fixer: CCleaner
Antivirus: AVG (less of a system hog than Symantec)
