it would seem you could get shit like this for about the same price at fresh marketand its fresher by the time you eat it

But if it's for a Christmas present, it's kind of tacky to show up with a bag full of steaks from the grocery store. To me, at least.
12/21/2006 12:10:12 AM
No shit, I have never understood this phenomenaaaaaan. If I want some Omaha beef, I will drive out there and run over one.
12/21/2006 12:11:19 AM
people give steaks as a present?
12/21/2006 12:12:41 AM
12/21/2006 12:13:24 AM
sure, why not?Apparently you missed the thread title DamnStraight. It is "Omaha Steaks vs other online sites" not Omaha Steaks vs brick and mortar stores.
12/21/2006 12:13:51 AM
idk i guess i never considered giving someone steaks as a christmas present...seems kinda lame to me
12/21/2006 12:15:01 AM
What's lame is giving people gifts I know they'll never use that just collect dust in the closet. At least this way I can be damn sure they can use my gift and enjoy it.
12/21/2006 12:17:11 AM
yeah thats true...one year my mom gave me a 200 dollar gift card to walmart and i went shopping and had enough groceries for like a few monthsanyways, goodluck with your search

I would much rather have a tractor pull up to my house with an entire beef animal on it, still warm, than to get the very same $$$ amount of two petite frozen steaks in my mailbox from some dumbass.
12/21/2006 12:20:49 AM
^^Thanks. I was debating giving a gc to melting pot, but was hoping to find something a little more creative.Ok, so what online site will pull up a tractor with the animal to my house?[Edited on December 21, 2006 at 12:22 AM. Reason : ]

Did you get bored with chit chat today or something?
12/21/2006 12:28:40 AM
i'm not going to buy any meat that i havent seen either.........and at that price it is probably absolute shit
12/21/2006 12:38:30 AM
On what did you base that statement?
12/21/2006 12:46:51 AM
Ok, here's an idea for a grrrrreat Christmas! For the same money you waste on that bullshit, have your new-found butcher prepare everything just like you want, not GOURMET FUCKING OVERPRICED FUCKING FRRRANKS (HOTDOGS YOU DUMBASS!!) YO.., woops, alright, back to business...have him/her cut just what you want, no bs filler meat crap just to fill up a bunch of meaty sounding text lines.// consumer, are you there??????? And since everyone else is going to be ordering online, maybe your new butcher can wrap this realllllly good stuff up special, and bring it to them in person. Surely he has nothing else to do with everyone jumping up and down over those........ $40 Omaha GUORMET FRANKS (HOT DOGS again you dumbass!!!!!!!!!!!)

i've had most of those before and i wasn't impressed with anything but the burgers
12/21/2006 9:14:10 AM
my parents used to give them to me as gifts....i always liked it, especially when i was in college. i could just keep everything frozen until i wanted something. very convinient, and it was always quality meat.
12/21/2006 9:19:46 AM
all their food is except for the au gratin potatoes. I've never understood why people rave about their FROZEN steaks....
12/21/2006 3:15:49 PM
i sent one of those gift packs from them to my dad a few years back- was like 4 steaks, 4 porkchops, some other stuff, and a cheesecake- i think it came out to about 50 bucks, and he said he loved it

didnt read this thread but omaha steaks is MONEY. great , great food.
12/22/2006 7:55:39 PM
hamy parents just got one of these things todayit was more fun playing with the dry ice that kept everything frozen
12/22/2006 8:01:16 PM
Yeah we just got one the other day, the gayass UPS guy didn't even ring the doorbell when he delivered it at 10 PM so it set there thawing all night, but seems to be ok, was fairly cold out. Some of the stuff they sent wasn't what was originally ordered, so we called them up and they're sending us the other stuff too to make up for it. (probably were out of stock at the shipping place so substituted other foods so as not to ruin the gift with a late delivery)
