Meadow is off I-40 about 30 minutes east of Raleigh. Can't remember the exit # off the top of my head but I believe you would take the exit for HWY 96.

Penny Rd. near where it intersects Holly Springs Rd.
You'll know the house when you see it.
Actually, you'd know the house if you saw it from space.

I drove near Five Points tonight coming back from work. Many tasteful, not too gawdy lights in that area on those big ass houses.

Also, I know there are some streets in Cameron Park that have some nice lights - behind Hillsborough, between Oberlin and St. Mary's.

there is a house in cary that you guys all need to go check out. it's very acid trippy xmas like

if youre going down cary parkway from the beltline/us-1, after you cross over lake pine, there is a neighborhood about two or three streets up on the left (past the rex wellness center)....the house/yard is visible from the parkway, but make the left and go down half a block

if they're still up this year, it looks like hundreds of christmas icons suspended in midair, and is almost creepy in a mad christmas sort of way

i highly encourage checking it out

I love this thread. I live in N. Raleigh, and I've noticed there are less lights out this year so I have no suggestions.

Cool looking one on Avent Ferry out near Lake Johnson. It's a white house near the bridge--it looks like it could be on a Christmas card.

I second the Penny Road one. A friend of the family's... and a Southern Wake tradition. I can remember family trips to go see the lights at Walnut Creek and go home and see his. Pretty comparable I'd say

It's still there I drive by it all the time.

There's also a house on SW Maynard near Castalia that's got a snow making machine this year, he had snow on the ground last week.

There's another house off of Trackers Run (in the same general area as above) that's always done way up

There's a house in Lochmere that always goes all out with the lights. It's on Whisperwood Dr. just past the second lake if you're coming down Lochmere Dr. from Kildaire Farms Rd. You can't miss it.

Ok so I went by the guys house on Penny rd. I must say it was pretty impressive. He has a old fire engine in the yard with lights and a big Block S NC State logo on the side.

Just saw a great house last night...

Take 401 or Lake Wheeler Road south... towards Fuquay (not downtown Raleigh). From either road, make a left onto Ten-Ten and head east towards Johnston County (not Holly Springs)

Continue on Ten-Ten for a few miles and it's on your left... immediately before you come to Fanny Brown Road on the right. If you get to Old Stage Rd... you've gone to far and must have been blind.

It's not quite the house on Penny Road but they're getting better and better each year so I can see 'em giving some pretty stiff competition next year.

i got lost off of NC 54 I think near morrisville......it was CRAZY! HUNDREDS of lights in this dude's farm. It was like 2 acres of nothing but christmas lights and different scenes.

I'd never seen anything like it.

There's a house down by the intersection of Tryon and Cary Parkway that has dozens of trees lit up in different single colors all through their yard...pretty cool looking. It's worth the drive to see it once, I think. My g/f lives over their and I always slow down to stare.

There's also a lot of bizarre stuff between Oberlin and Ridge Road, but it's in isolated pockets and the roads are so convoluted in there I couldn't tell you where to go. We drove around for an hour stealing shots for Christmas cards a couple weeks ago.

The house on Penny Road is so close to my parent's house I can hear the music he plays every day until 11 pm. The guy is nuts...this year he even has a snow machine that blows real snow on to the passing cars. He's also an NC State alumni, I think...who want's to wager he was EE?
