IBM laptops (and some others I'm sure) have that little mouse button thing in the middle of the keypad, it toggles like a joystick

What are those things called? I need to find a replacement one (have a refurb laptop that's missing it)

I've always called it a nipple.

i think you have to get them from lenovo. i recently got a new keyboard for my t42 through the warranty and it came with new trackpoint cover thingies.

awesome, thanks

found out one more problem in the middle of trying to resolve this one... apparently there's a black plastic piece that slides over the trackpoint protrusion on the keyboard (then the nipple goes on that piece). looks like this:

anyone know if these are available in an IBM parts kit or something I can find order off eBay? or do I need to go cannabalize an old ThinkPad somewhere?

Go to UNC-CH tech department and ask for one. Theyve been issuing Thinkpads for years and years now, and you can probably get one for free. or ask a UNCCH friend
