My roommate and I are moving out of Raleigh b/c of graduation and we need boxes. I've tried grociery stores and whatnot but they don't seem to have a lot of boxes when I go. If anyone can get any boxes from work (we really need all sizes... we have a lot of stuff) or if you have any suggestions or clues about where to get them it would be greatly appreciated. Oh - and if you get them from work, I'll pick them up and pay you $5 for dragging them home. Thanks everyone!

heres what you do: go to lowes, home depot, sears, any place that sells appliances. they have boxes for the appliances they sell. thats where you get the big ones.as for the grocery stores...

grocery stores won't have boxes just laying around... at least food lion won'tthey have box crushers and there really isn't a lot of room to just leave boxes sitting around for someone. You have to convince the manager to save some for you, otherwise you're out of luck. But if you do convince a manager, it would only take like 1 night when they get a truck in to get enough boxes.

Try going to Best Buy first thing in the morning or late one afternoon (on a truck night) and see if they have any that aren't destroyed yet.

if you go to a grocery store, ask when their truck nights are. go in on a truck night and snag boxes while they are stocking so that you can get them before they are crushed.also try the ABC stores in the area. they usually have lots of sturdy boxes. if they don't, ask when they get deliveries and go back on that day to get your pick of boxes.

don't get giant boxes except for pillows/blankets/comforters...otherwise you won't be able to lift it once it's full.

grocery stores...wait until you see the big truck docked in back and ask the manager not to crush the boxes...

i have had luck in the past with smaller stores, like drugstores. They flatten their boxes sometimes, but they don't have box crushers so they have boxes sitting around for much longer.

or go to any liquor store, especially on fridays, no shenanigans required, just walk in and take them. I like the one in mission valley b/c you can pretty much back right up to the door.

ok, i'm speaking from experience here since i used to work third shift stocking shelves at wal-mart. either stay up real late or get up real early, and go to wal-mart at like 3 or 4am. although i was not one of them, i guarantee the lazy fucks that work there are more than willing to get those boxes off their hands. not to mention you don't even have to ask, just go in and take however many you need. BUT, if you can't get to wal-mart at that time, go to a wal-mart supercenter, as they seem to be stocking shelves all day and not just at third shift. that's where i got my boxes from last week for shipping out christmas presents. definitely wal-mart is your best bet
