I purchased my first (film) SLR a couple years ago, after getting tired of my point-and-shoot destroying my shots. It was a Nikon N75, and I really like it, but I want to get a digital SLR sometime soon, since I develop all my film onto CD anyway.

It looks like I'm not going to be able to find a buyer for the N75, and I thought the lenses for the Nikon D and N series SLRs were interchangeable, so i might go with a used D50 or the new D40. I don't know much about Canon's line, or any other players out there.

any suggestions? advice on where to buy?

Can't the Nikon DSLRs use older Nikon glass?

D50s are very inexpensive, and I hear they put out pretty good pictures.
