\m/and it begins!
12/15/2006 12:42:25 AM
I'll start with the most important metal band of all time...BLACK SABBATH

*blasts cephalic carnage*
12/15/2006 12:55:35 PM
Blah Dragonforce has dominated my car for like a month now
12/15/2006 1:02:51 PM
i'n not too big into power metal...sonata and iced earth is about as far as i go
12/15/2006 1:36:45 PM
In Flames - goliaths disarm your davidsThis was the song that really got me hooked into metal. I didn't have any way of finding great metal until I got to college. All I had before that was Master of Puppets.I must have listened to this song 100x through. It was so different from anything else I had heard up to that point.

I love Metalocalypse.Murderface is definitely my favorite. MUR-MAID-DER MUR-MAID-DER! br00tal.I've been on an Arch Enemy binge as of late. Chronologically going through their albums. Stigmata ranks up there as a favorite. Their guitarists are both very very sick. Can't say I'm that big a fan of See You Next Tuesday, just doesn't seem like their songs are that thought out?
12/15/2006 3:39:47 PM
Celtic Frost
12/15/2006 3:46:08 PM
lamb of god
12/15/2006 4:09:05 PM
I'll second Celtic Frost
12/15/2006 4:57:33 PM
Black metal fans need to check out Xasthur's new album "Subliminal Genocide." One of the best metal releases this year, along with Celtic Frost's "Monotheist"
12/16/2006 3:43:54 AM
oooh i've been meaning to check out Xasthur's new one. I got hooked on them with Telepathic with the Deceased.Don't really have much to add to this thread other than the usual stuff I rant about, so I'll just give a big\m/
HELL YEAH
12/16/2006 3:54:59 AM
Between The Buried And Me
12/16/2006 5:27:57 AM

12/16/2006 10:59:23 AM
^cmon now I love that band tooTheir self titled will forever be one of my favorite albums.
12/16/2006 12:35:29 PM
this is my favorite band at the moment...in the pelican/isis vein...LISTENhttp://myspace.com/irreversiblemusic
12/16/2006 12:39:58 PM
^^ for sure.and i actually havent listened to a ton of metal lately. need to get some new material for sure
12/16/2006 12:47:29 PM
I don't know how I feel about the influx of all this metalgaze. One side of me really enjoys it, but the other side of me says that these bands are just being trendy.I compare it to all the faux death that's been floating around as of late. I know more than one person including myself who deemed down tempo stuff the next "in" thing.blasted politics!
12/16/2006 12:59:16 PM
Whitesnake!!! \m/
12/16/2006 1:06:41 PM
black dhalia murder is what ive been listening to lately
12/16/2006 1:14:00 PM
the closest thing I get to metalcore is All Shall Perish...otherwise I'm pretty elitist I guess about what is metal (especially anything labelled specifically as death or brutal) and what isn't. BTBAM definitely isn't. Not saying they aren't a great band, just saying it ain't metal, ya dig?
12/16/2006 2:54:09 PM
^^ idk if it is metal or not but Miasma is one of my favorite CDs
12/16/2006 2:59:55 PM
^x5 yea it does seem there are tons of bands doing it right now...i listen to a fair bit of isis and that is about it...i happen to think that these guys (irreversible) do it better than most and they are young
12/16/2006 8:30:27 PM
I agree.they do it quite well.
12/16/2006 9:32:40 PM
who cares about isis these days? that band is a fucking snoozer. i will be going to charlotte to see them on their next tour for the opening bands, though...jesu and torche. sweet. i've heard jesu sucks live, but i like to make my own decision about that. torche is daaamn fine live.
12/16/2006 10:34:05 PM
i think i am the only person alive that doesnt like torche
12/17/2006 4:25:38 AM
I don't get how Isis is a snoozer, but TORCHE of all bands is intriguing to see play live. You want to talk about fucking constant drone...man.Anyway, I just saw Necrophagist and Skinless last weekend, and will definitely be attending Maryland Death Fest this coming year with Cynic, Brutal Truth, Origin, Psycroptic and a host of other fantastic bands that you could never see anywhere else.
12/17/2006 8:49:02 AM
I about fell asleep at the Isis show.then I left.
12/17/2006 10:53:14 AM
whence in the hell did skinless and necrophagist play???!?!!??! fuck! that's the kind of shit you gotta make sure a brotha knows aboutI was thinking about taking a road trip for the Maryland Death Fest...[Edited on December 17, 2006 at 10:54 AM. Reason : vnn]

"You want to talk about fucking constant drone...man."your definition of drone needs some serious revision.

****OFFICIAL HATEBREED- SATISFACTION IS THE DEATH OF DESIRE POST****
12/21/2006 3:00:56 PM
As paerabol said, All Shall Perish, is pretty fucking awesome and brutal. I would say definately worth checking out if you are into that. Also a local-ish band, Giant, is some pretty rad down tempo shit, reminds me of Pelican and what not.
12/21/2006 3:42:39 PM
I'm more into old cannibal (the chris barnes era), suffocation (just kindof 'rediscovered' effigy this week \m/ ), decapitated, deicide, hate eternal, and just brutal death...I'm into the technical and progressive stuff too but the older brutal stuff just deos it for me for whatever reason. I never could follow those *-core bands...but ASP sits right on that fence and I dig it anyway
