Best local places to buy for cheap?Ever built your own?Have one to sell?Looking for one to cover about an 8ftx5ft area. 8ft attached to the house & then 5 ft outwards over the patio. I prefer to stay under $100 hence why I may build my own. But if anyone knows somewhere that has cheap ones let me know... Or how to build/where to get good fabric & materials for one... Or I could go rip one off of a trailer!

^ Cannot find anything on their website.... as far as whole awnings are concerned...If you are referring to finding materials there... then that's just dumb. Unless you specify which ones I should use....[Edited on December 13, 2006 at 5:37 PM. Reason : m]

What about that clear plastic stuff they use in greenhouses? It's corrugated and you can lay the sheets side by side and they kinda lock together. That plus some treated 2x4s for support and framing...and you're in biznas, son

That would be classy as hell! But seriously I was thinking aluminum piping and such for support, no posts runing into the ground & crap. And maybe a vinyl-esque fabric (i know nothing about that crap)...maybe green....[Edited on December 13, 2006 at 5:44 PM. Reason : crap]

There's a place based out of my subdivision that sells awnings, can't remember the name but my momo got some made and was happy.

^^^300-500? If you can get that one for that little, you probably should get that. The good awnings that I've seen tend to be in the 700-1000 range. This one looks alot like the picture you posted & they want 1000 for it.http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=6970&productId=200287924&R=200287924

no way you could build one for $100, i doubt you could find the cloth top for that cheap. good luck though

^^ Retractable w/ motor....The aluminum & such really shouldn't cost much at all... the cloth material I guess it just depends on what I get... I don't want a tarp or anything crappy like that, just something fairly cheap but decent looking.[Edited on December 14, 2006 at 10:42 AM. Reason : h]

^ Yep. You could do it a lot smaller though, so it'd just go over the walkway like an awning. Dunno if its feasable/practical, but something to consider.

definitely considered
