brasa
12/10/2006 8:22:14 PM
how about you pay me and i'll cook those steaks at my house?
12/10/2006 8:38:05 PM
brasaI've never been, but if the owners of Rio run it like they run Crazy Fire, you do not want to eat there. Sanitation issues, not waitstaff/managerial crap.
12/10/2006 9:03:25 PM
go to rio, the bartender is coolwell, i guess that might not really matter if you go for dinner, oh well[Edited on December 10, 2006 at 9:12 PM. Reason : sfasd]
12/10/2006 9:12:33 PM
rio all the way.brasa is NOT worth what you pay.I got to rio about once a month and never get tired of it. the salad bar is almost as awesome as the meat. calamari, ceviche, salmon, shrimp salsa, palm hearts, etc.
12/10/2006 9:36:23 PM
I had an ideal time when I went to the Rio in North Raleigh
12/10/2006 10:24:58 PM
I havent been to brasa but my folks did, they're not planning on going back.$texas and not worth it from what I'm to understand.
12/10/2006 10:50:30 PM
Rio is awesome
12/11/2006 12:13:17 AM
Rio was damn good.
12/11/2006 12:20:20 AM
Is Rio the one in the McGregor shopping center in Cary?
12/11/2006 12:31:38 AM
we've been to brasa and it was AMAZING, but we didn't have to pay for it so I don't know about $$. haven't been to rio but the reviews on it are poor and most ppl i know who have been hated it, said it was too crowded, and the meat smelled funny.
12/11/2006 12:48:51 PM
how many is a brazillion?
12/11/2006 12:53:01 PM
I have been to both multiple times.I liked Rio better. My fiance liked Brasa. Plan on spending several hours at whatever place you choose. Usually we spend about three-four hours with a few 15 minute smoke breaks.[Edited on December 11, 2006 at 12:58 PM. Reason : If I remember correctly, RIO was abou 25 per person (without alcohol)]
12/11/2006 12:58:03 PM
Ok look.Between the Brazilian place at Brightleaf square and Brasa, I always choose the drive to Durham.Brasa has a terrible, heavy stench to it that it simply doesn't need to have. The place in Durham not only appears more upscale, but their buffet offers finer meals and they bring fried bananas, mashed potatoes and cheese bread to your table.

If only they charged on a weight class scale. Not everyone in this country is on the fast track to being overweight .
12/13/2006 12:13:53 AM
^Yeah seriouslyI'm 5'11 and about 145, the last time I went there I was with two friends and we ate so much that one of the sword guys said they should come out and take our picture or something
12/13/2006 12:16:29 AM
price on Chamas?
12/13/2006 1:15:17 AM
this reminds me of my Brazillian facial thread . . .
12/13/2006 2:28:33 AM
in Brazil it's actually twice as cheap and 10 times as good....well at least they have it around these parts
12/13/2006 4:15:02 AM
go to chamas in durham. seriously. you'll fucking love it!first time i went, my friend and i didn't realize it was an upscale place. he was in jeans and t-shirt and i was in shorts, t-shirt, and wearing rainbows. we were just hungry as fuck, and decided we should get something in brightleaf square (trendy commercial area). we walked in, and the hostess didn't say shit. as she was taking us to our table we noticed everyone was well dressed, and there was a bitchin' room full of wine. no one gave us any shit for how we were dressed, and i didn't notice anyone staring. our waiter was cool as fuck. the food was dank as fuck. a+++++ restaurant.it's like $17 for just the salad buffet, and $28 if you want meat too. and all the meat is fucking perfect. seriously. the wine selection is kinda pricey though, but they're cool with you bringing your own. i don't remember how much the cork service is though. i think it was like $8.[Edited on December 13, 2006 at 4:31 AM. I like Rio just fine...but it might be because they have chicken hearts!mmmmmm...organ meat!
12/13/2006 8:24:08 AM
I went to Brasa with a company party this week and it was very good, but not what I had built it up in my head to be... I doubt I'll ever go back if I have to pay for it.
12/15/2006 12:41:26 PM
why Christine said that Rio has sanitation issues I don't know, but that's a crock of shit. I work at the Rio in MacGregor Village and that place is very clean. Our current score is a 95 and before that it was over 100. And while I don't work at the Rio in N. Raleigh, I know the cooks (cause they came from our store) and some of the waitstaff and there are no sanitation issues over there either. With that said, Brasa and Rio are under the same ownership, the only difference is the atmosphere. Rio is more casual, and a bit more laid back, whereas Brasa is more upscale and costs a bit more. Brazilian steakhouses aren't for everybody. If you want to go on a date and sit in a corner booth and be left alone for the majority of the meal, it probably isn't for you. If you want all you can eat meat and cold buffet and a fun, interactive dinner, you'll probably have a wonderful time.

12/15/2006 11:03:19 PM
with all of christine's ramblings i ate at rio again tonight, and not one of those issues came upand it was me, mitch who is bigger than me, and two other guys equal to my size, there were no problems and they kept the meat comingso....i dono what shes talking about[Edited on December 16, 2006 at 12:41 AM. Reason : christine just hates the manager actually]

12/19/2006 5:01:47 PM
I didn't see much of a difference between Rio and Brasa, other than the priceI love that they both have the grilled cinnamon and sugar pineapple, because that is fantastic

Is Rio fanciful enough to go for Valentines day (not actually on the 14th) or should I go with Brasa? My lady really liked a brazillian steakhouse we went to in Greensboro so I was planning on going to another one.Not looking for something necessarily upscale but somewhere where we wouldnt have to share a table with other people and I wouldnt look silly with a tie [would be a bonus].[Edited on January 25, 2007 at 1:40 PM. Reason : I still plan on going to one or the other regarless]
1/25/2007 1:38:00 PM
it's definitely fanciful enough for a v-day date with or without a tieBrasa is bigger, and a little bit more upscale ($10 per person)Rio is smaller and more intimate, a little bit cheaper. But you could get some lobster and/or a nice bottle of wine and make it as upscale as you want. It's really your call, but I know we (Rio) have lots of two-person tables for this type of occasion. Either way, make your reservation soon!
