what a lying bastard sack of shit no values no integrityplus i made the thread

what a typical American wanting to pull in 3+ million a yearI'd do it. So would you and every other red-blooded American.
12/8/2006 6:50:03 AM
precisely why Billy C won't be our coach anytime soon (or probly ever)
12/8/2006 7:18:32 AM
He's nothing more than a high priced whore, it's hard to respect a guy who calls up a sports radio program not even a week earlier claiming that he'd stay at WV for as long as they'd have him only to leave them a few days later.
12/8/2006 8:27:36 AM
dude sold out his own school
12/8/2006 9:14:09 AM
damn we should have tried to get him
12/8/2006 9:17:07 AM
i wouldnt have left WVU honestly
12/8/2006 9:19:10 AM
to double your pay?pfft.
12/8/2006 9:29:05 AM
no noi would have, but not before asking them to match
12/8/2006 9:30:09 AM
^^ that's at least a slightly myopic way to look at it. Sure you double your salary, but you also significantly lose job security and burn a bridge with your alma mater. The Alabama crowd may be the toughest fan base to please in D1A.
12/8/2006 9:34:03 AM
^ exactly why they would have to pay me a shit ton to go therei mean WVU loved him, and at Bama is he goes to 5 straight Rose Bowls and then has a 3-9 season his ass is fired before the season is even over...
12/8/2006 9:36:09 AM
hell even a 6-6 season with a loss to Auburn would probably be enough. Being an alumnus with a Big East conference title under his belt (or more, i don't know) and a winning program thus far at WVU under his watch, he'd get a couple of passes if he fell into a subpar season. Not so at bama.
12/8/2006 9:39:55 AM
exactly, and that has to be worth some amount of money
12/8/2006 9:40:42 AM
I never got why these guys were all about the money in these types of situations... Once you are making over a million a year, does it really increase your lifestyle that much to make another million? Plus, you are talking about the difference between living in the mountains of WV versus the shithole that is Alabama. You are talking about high stress high pressure job versus a job where you are a god and where you are leading your school to previously unprecedented highs. I don't get it. I am not in the guy's shoes, but from the outside looking in, it looks like a stupid decision.
12/8/2006 9:48:04 AM
just ask jim grobe not all coaches are prostitutes for hire.
12/8/2006 9:49:42 AM
shits really disappointing, a man's word means nothing anymoresuch a bunch of bullshit, i hate to say it, even though im not a WVU fan, I hate Rich Rodriguez now
12/8/2006 9:51:38 AM
^ I feel the same way. Just say nothing if you don't want to burn bridges if things fall through. I hate the new expected "coachspeak" that goes around when coaches are being fired and hired.
12/8/2006 9:54:46 AM
paging Ihatespida
12/8/2006 10:04:45 AM
To the guy who said "how much does your lifestyle increase after $1 million" -- personally, I think it's HUGE.$1 million (sadly, very sadly) isn't what it used to be. If he gets $3-4 million per year, he can really ball out of control. Considering decent sized mansions these folks like in easily cost $1-2 mil, I'd say there's a huge lifestyle change between 1 mil and 3 mil per year.Still, I don't get why he'd leave his alma mater, family, and Morgantown (it's a nice place, actually) to go to Bama. He could've used this for leverage on his existing contract (see: Spurrier getting another 500k/year for doing nothing this year) and stayed at home.Of course, we know nothing looking from the outside in, but his words last week now mean nothing, which would make me weary if I was a Bama fan as far as trusting a coach.
12/8/2006 10:13:05 AM
OMFGSMB WHAT THA FUCK I LUV WVU WHAAT AN AZZ
12/8/2006 10:13:23 AM
Sure, a lot of what he said falls into the category of "coachspeak", but he took it to another level, going out of his way to assure everyone on multiple occasions that he wasn't going anywhere, and even lashed out a couple of times when it was reported otherwise. At the time, it made me respect the man that much more. Of course that was on the condition that he actually kept his word.
12/8/2006 10:15:25 AM
yeah he basically just shit on all of that
12/8/2006 10:16:22 AM
no way i'd leave my alma mater for more money. and it's not as if wvu is some iaa team where yeah he went to school there but it's just not enough for an aspiring coach. wvu was as high as #4 this year, iirc. he really could've built a consistant national power there.edit: i did find it a little strange when he had that whole rant that he's never leaving wvu, and then they asked him if he'd take the bama job if offered and instead of just saying "no" he said something like "i'm not even going to address that after what i just told you." why not just say no?[Edited on December 8, 2006 at 10:18 AM. 12/8/2006 10:17:10 AM
im not certain he's actually accepted, has he?
12/8/2006 10:20:50 AM
^I'm a little skeptical as well
12/8/2006 10:23:10 AM
He's gonna pull a Calipari on Bama.
12/8/2006 10:23:40 AM
no way in hell i would leave WVU for Alabamathey are worse about football at Alabama than we are about basketball5 coaches in 10 yearsthats messy
12/8/2006 10:35:57 AM
Haha, go to their scout.com board and just read away. It's pure gold. They are tracking every plane in and out of the Morgantown airport..http://mb19.scout.com/bwestvirginia18066[Edited on December 8, 2006 at 11:27 AM. Reason : x]
12/8/2006 11:26:45 AM
about 10-15 minutes ago on ESPN they said he was going to 'Bama
12/8/2006 11:27:52 AM
Well, once they get tired of him at Bama he can just take all that money and go coach somewhere else, hey WVU might even take him back.
12/8/2006 11:29:12 AM
it really is sad, I mean not only is WVU is alma mater, the man spent his life growing up just 30 mins from the University. I really feel for the players, you can tell from their comments that their truely hurt by this.BTW- what is a contract worth nowdays really. The man just signed a seven-year contract that pays him $1 million this year with an extra $50,000 added every year IN JUNE. Also in 2011, he'll collect an extra 600,00 if he was just still there. This is not chump change we are talking about. I'm sorry but give me job security in a place that loves me and still pays pretty well anyday. News like this make you really appreciate the Greg Schiano and hopefully (let see what happen between now and Jan) Jim Grobe of the world. But I guess, we really shouldn't be talking, we did kinda just go and take BC head coach ( though he did contact us first, so I guess it is not the same)
12/8/2006 12:11:02 PM
Man, I know WVU football is life to folks in WV, but this is nuts. From their message board:
12/8/2006 12:31:53 PM
They are hardcore fans. Crazy but hardcore. When your home fans throw bags of piss at opposing players you know they're crazy. It's looking look he might actually stay at WVU with the deadline being 3pm today. That would be hilarious to see Rodriguez take a piss right on all of Alabama.. to me. Either way it doesn't really matter to me but I'm all for pissing off some Bama folks..
12/8/2006 12:34:18 PM
cowherd just said that wvu has counter-offered. sounds like he may be calipari-ing bama after all.
12/8/2006 12:35:33 PM
Like I said all along, he should've just used the Bama offer for leverage. But he's already pissed off BOTH fanbases now, which wasn't intelligent.

I AM PRETTY PISSED ABOUT HOW THE WHOLE SITUATION WENT DOWN.....I WONDER WHO IS GOING TO REPLACE HIM.....THEY STILL HAVE YOUNG PLAYERS AT THE SKILL POSITION AND THEIR BACKUP TO PAT WHITE LOOKED PRETTY CAPABLE AGAINST RUTGERS[Edited on December 8, 2006 at 12:37 PM. WEST VIRGINIA WAS ALWAYS TOOTHLESS, NOW THEY'RE COACHLESS!
12/8/2006 12:39:13 PM
coach k didn't leave duke when the lakers offered him about ten times his fucking salary because he knows he's got a great job and job security out the ass. Rich should've done the same thing. If he kept winning, wvu would've kept extending his contract and would've kept paying him more.
12/8/2006 12:41:41 PM

12/8/2006 12:42:16 PM

12/8/2006 1:15:55 PM

12/8/2006 1:27:55 PM
give richer a few more years and he would've been a god just like coach k
12/8/2006 1:54:11 PM
I love that he has a 3pm deadlinelike if he decided at 4 he wanted to coach there, they'd say SORRY! YOU MISSED THE DEADLINE!
12/8/2006 2:33:02 PM
hahahahaha.. Alabama just got a facial... This is much worse than Calipari and us. The entire nation is going to be laughing at this...[Edited on December 8, 2006 at 3:17 PM. Reason : x]
