i have a 5.1 channel Onkyo reciever hooked up in my room, it came with the 5 speakers and a sub and its been working fine, i've had it for about 3 years now. however, recently its been cutting off when i turn the volume up around the 30 mark. it will hit anywhere between 27-32 on the volume dial and then will just cut off. i have no idea whats going on with it, i have a lot of other things plugged in to the power outlets, i live in bragaw and we have 3 power surges going with mine and my roommates computer, the tv, dvd player, ps2, powered sub, an extra computer monitor, 2 printers, and the receiver all plugged into those 3 surges. this is a similar setup to how i had it last year in tucker and it worked fine, never cut off, it just started doing it this year. does anyone know whats going on or what i should/could do?

oh, i forgot to add, i have the tv, dvd player, ps2, and my computer audio hooked into the receiver. out of these things, it only seems to cut off when i listen to output from my computer or ps2, does this make any sense?

i blew the dust off but it doesnt seem to help

I'd inspect your speaker setup. Make sure nothing is frayed if you're not using bananna plugs or something.

Also, how are the ps2 and computer connected? If they're connected through 2 channel inputs then I'd look at your front right and left speakers first. Unless your receiver is upmixing stereo to surround (which you really shouldn't do for the most part) then those two speakers are all that should be really doing anything with those sources. That would seem to suggest to me that the problem is with those circuits. Hopefully you just need to twist some speaker wire ends a little tighter or something. Remember to check the speaker wire connections at the speaker AND receiver.
