Anyone that has been there, could you provide some output? I am a huge fan of Indian food but my experience is that most of the Indian restaurants around here are pretty crappy. I have heard some rumors on the internets that Udupi is pretty good and I was thinking of taking a lady friend there this weekend for dinner, does anyone have any thoughts?

I take it you're looking for vegetarian cuisine? If not, I'd recommend Udupi's sister restaurant, Spice & Curry.

Eaten there a couple of times...it's pretty excellent stuff. Rumor has it they have a lunch buffet, but I haven't ever confirmed that.

I am not looking for vegetarian cuisine in particular, but it isn't a big deal if it is all vegetarian. I am mostly just looking for deliciousness.

It's delicious and authentic...I highly reccomend it.

ive been there dozens of times..... i personally was not a big fan of the buffet, mostly cause i am spoiled from royal india on capital blvd. but their regular food is quite good. def. take her. you'll have a blast.

It's pretty good. And you'd think that being a self advertised vegeterian restauraunt, there would be a good selection of vegan cuisine by proxy. Nope. But what I did eat was really well done. I'd like to try the buffet.

The food there is alot different from other local restaurants. Firstly, its all vegetarian. The food is also more South Indian in style.

Go for the lunch buffet...you get to taste a variety of things just in case you don't like something

the food is actually mostly western/southern side of india..thats where most of the vegetarian stuff is anyway...and mostly south Indians eat fishI would search gujurati food..and thats basically the kind of food you'll see at udupiI am biased though since my parents are friends with the people who built it so..............it was pretty good food but I've only ate there that once during the opening

Those crepe things are a little over the top.

The mother in the family that I work for is from southern India. She has not specifically told me that the food is good, but I do know that her family goes there to eat. I'm assuming that it must not be bad Indian food if she's willing to eat there.

Suchi in Cary and Dale's in Durham are also good places for Indian food imo

Where is the place?

it is definitely one of the better Indian restaurants around. I've been there a few times and the food there is pretty good and most importantly, the taste is pretty authentic. definitely recommended.

I went and I like it and I hate trying new things. It is in the little shopping center when you cross Maynard on Chatham St.
