what is dynamic contrast?
12/4/2006 9:58:47 PM
e the ratio of the luminosity of the brightest and the darkest color the system is capable of producing over time
12/4/2006 10:11:25 PM
3000:1 is crazy though.....mine is only 1200:1
12/4/2006 10:13:41 PM
heh what can i say samsung is definately the leader in LCD TVs. as of last year they are beating out sharp who was once a leader. there quality is just incredible.http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/marcus321/tv11.jpgcheck out that quality.[Edited on December 4, 2006 at 10:23 PM. 12/4/2006 10:33:48 PM

ok how about 650 OBO
12/4/2006 11:45:24 PM
yea, I know its a samsung......but I got my 32 westinghouse for under $600 and it has some decent stats.......1200:1 contrast 6.5ms response time 1366x768
12/4/2006 11:58:40 PM
samsung destroy westinghouse in terms of quality, options and features. my dad has a westinghouse in his bedroom its a shame. now if you have a westinghouse 1080p, those were actually built decently when calibrated correctly.

I agree Samsung owns the LCD market......but I like my panel, cant see the justification of buying a more expensive smaller panel with little difference.[Edited on December 5, 2006 at 12:08 AM. Reason : but, this LCD is still amazing for someone looking top quality in a 26" size]
12/5/2006 12:06:47 AM
http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ele/244163618.htmli dunno if that one is better but its $100 cheaper and amazon.com says that model # has a contrast ratio of 4000:1
12/5/2006 12:24:40 AM
wow, its in brand new condition too
12/5/2006 12:26:40 AM
ya i tried purchasing that one. the guy couldnt provide a receipt which means its useless. say it comes with 4 dead pixels or a cracked screen. neither one of those will go with manufacture warranty. and since i dont have receipt i cant return it to the store.
12/5/2006 1:41:28 AM
^^bhswain, how does that westinghouse look anyway?
12/5/2006 1:47:27 AM
I love it, I mean above all cant beat the price..........579.99 or so after tax...doubt they have anymore, the newer model has lower contrast and slower response time. Right now I am also using it as my computer monitor via VGA. Has lots of nice features, no PIP though. Picks up all the HD channels just by plugging in a RF cable from the wall and basic service[Edited on December 5, 2006 at 1:55 AM. Reason : My upconvert DVD player looks great too, its not the best but its amazing for the price.]
12/5/2006 1:54:07 AM

FYI: 2000:1 is cinema standard contrast...any less, and you're not seeing it like it was filmed/meant to be seen, but above that, you're money....it's just that the human eye can't tell much difference unless you're talking a 1000-1500 difference
12/5/2006 2:53:55 PM

No lcd tv has a 2000:1 contrast ratio. Dimming the backlight, and then cranking it to max are such irrellevent schemes to measure usable contrast ratio.Even the best plasmas arnt 2000:1 in actual use (not even 1000:1).I wish they would implement an industry standard in measurement of contrast ratios.but alas.....[Edited on December 6, 2006 at 1:00 AM.
