Wtf is with this no post for 90 day bullshit on old threads? AnyhowIt's official, the bike starts up and works like a charm. I had so much trouble with the wiring that I figured... hey, instead of trying to get it to work using the 05 set, why not drop in the 04 even though people said that it wouldn't work... Well they are wrong. The engine works with the 04 wiring harness flawlessly. Started her right up with no hesitation! There was some oil on the headers when changing the oil so that's why it was smoking... not because I fucked up the 2nd engine... Took a little test drive Sunday morning around the hood and it drove great, brakes handled good, and suspension felt unusually rough, but I think that's because my ass was hurting from the no seat setup... :p The only problem that's left is the Map Sensor is broken, so I actually have the tube directly super glued to the opening intake valve (for the vacuum). Then the front stay bracket, which is bent the fuck up. Didn't seem like it, but when I put the head lights on, it's been bent back by a good 10 degrees and the faring won't bolt on. I also have to get a new RR battery. I'm using the gixxer battery which is way too tall and won't fit in the battery box and the driver seat won't fit down (that's why there's the blue jeans on the bike... ghetto seat). And lastly, the most important one, My radiator fan doesn't want to turn on for some odd reason... I let the engine idle for 5 mins and let the temp get up to 225 degrees and the fan did not turn on at all. I might have to go back and look through the manual because I'm pretty sure the fan would turn on by then... But I do have the wires ghetto spliced together since I'm using an 06 radiator and the connectors aren't the same off the 04's... Don't ask me why. Honda likes to change the stupidest stuff. And thanks to Toyotofj40s, as I made him buy the other 03 600rr to use as a 3d reference manual.. The project Took 7 months but I had lots of legal shit, my 15k knee surgery because of the wreck, lots of school work, and I have two jobs... So not much time is left on working side projects. I probably on spent about 1 weekend a month working on the RR. I picked up some cheap plastics off ebay today too.No more stunting (or at least not too much stupid shit) for me. I plan on having it nicely built and taking it to the track next season. I've been slowly collecting cheap plastics for a 2nd set as race plastics. The 600RR projectThe whole summary of the project1/28/2006This is what the condition of the bike when I got it that day. Bought it for $2000 with a clean titleLess than 3500 miles on the bike. When I had three bikes in the bay. The plastics were rashed, needed a front stay bar, new headlight, new whole left clip-on, new left foot bracket, and new rear tire at the time. Bought the new front stay bar, headlights, clip-on, left bracket, and the 1st person in the US to get the new M3 tire back then (tire wasn't released till spring 2 months later, the local shop got a wrong shipment... [])2/5/2006got the new headlight onwhile I was at it, new KN filter tooI was still waiting for the new clip-on then, but I decided to ghetto rig the bike because I wanted to ride right away. I proped it up using tape, jb welded the joint as well as Zip ties to hold it there too.2/7/2006Got the new clip-on and installed itAlso picked up a new front cowl. Sprayed it black.3/2/2006Wrecked the shit out of the RR right at the start of spring break. Sucked ass. And I had my jacket with me and was being stupid, doing stunts. So I decided... "hey, let me try stand ups" and then it got really hot so I took the jacket off... 5 wheelies later.. flipped it going 15 mph. Half of the wreck was caught on film. Apparently I landed on right knee, but it went so fast and I don't even remember what happened. next thing I know, I'm on the ground saying "CRAP! wtf happened to my bike"... [8|]I managed to tweak the subframe, crack the engine block, bent the radiator, broke the front stay bar, smashed the right-clip on, master cyclinder, and right assembly. But it was a good thing I didn't have any plastics on and the new headlights (had old crappy ones...)Went to the hospital the next day and they said that my knee was just swollen and will go down. I took some Vitamin E and covered the road rash and the rash healed up in 3 days. No joke. I have a fast metabolism. So I stored the bike in the garage trying to figure out what to do with the RR. Around the same time, I picked up a 2005 gixxer 600 for 2400 that I was going to fix up and track. But I decided to fix it up for my friend and resell to rebuild the RR. When I tried to get the gixxer titled about two months after the wreck, I find out that it was stolen and all of the documentation I had was forged... On top of that, the DMV asshole throws me the law book when I'm down on the count. When I found out it was stolen, I thought he said it was a stolen recovery and I was thinking there had to be some sort of procedure to get the bike processes... What a big surprise there. At least the Local Apex cop was more down to Earth and helped me out. I actually met him before so he knows I had some credibility. BTW, I'm an eagle scout and tried to explain that to the DMV, but he really didn't give a shit about anything. Looked like he made some big career mistake and now ended up working for the DMV.I also helped the officer out by giving any information about the guy that I bought from in Charlotte. Name, vehicle description, email, I even traced his emails back to his house, but that proved to be no luck. The DMV asshole never contacted me back if they ever found the guy. I should call back, but I really don't give a shit anymore. So I'm left with a broken 600rr, 2400 out of cash from the gixxer, another 1000 bucks of gixxer parts that I bought on ebay that I had no use for, and on top of that I had all this legal bull shit from a DMV cop that was not polite who kept threating me even though I was polite and tired to reason to him. And on top of that, I had some issues with my right knee but wasn't aware at the time I had a torn ACL. Took 6 months to be properly diagnosed. Went through a bit of a depression about that time.5/04/2006So about this time, I found a new 05 600rr engine for 1200 shipped from a shop in VA. They even threw in a free master cylinder.Disassembling the bike. Took the rear rim off and propped the bike up using 2x12's, concrete blocks, and a car jack. I have stands but the were being used on another bike.To my surprise, the swingarm pivot axle goes through the engine block... Never noticed it before so I had to put some car jacks right under the frame to keep it up.I had a tough time to get the chain off but I was able to after visiting the local hardware store and picked up a few new toys. You can clearly see the cracked engine block, missing cover & stator, as well as the dented stator basket.new toy. 26 gallon air compressor. []5/10/2006My new engine came in this day so I took a stab at taking the old motor out. The shop forgot to send the headers, airbox and master cylinder, but I didn't need them at the time. And the actual motor was freighted by fedex, which seemed to have lost my engine for a week... Was shipped from VA and they ended up found it some where in KY... Beats the hell how they screw that up. At least I got it.After an hour of playing foreplay with the bike and engine, getting all damn dirty from the freaking chain lub, I finally got the engine out of the frame with a few car jacks, cinder blocks, and various sizes of wood (and me guns too!). It wasn't too bad, half the time I was trying to figure out how to get it out of the frame. I was going to get an engine hoist to get the engine off, but after weighing the new engine that I got, it turned out to only be 65 pounds (woot, I'm strong enough to move it! I'm only 125)Dropped the old engine. Used 2x12's on the floor to slowly drop the engine to the floor. Worked well. Didn't want to crack the block anymore even though it didn't matter...new engine and parts[Edited on December 4, 2006 at 6:09 AM. Reason : ]
12/4/2006 6:01:12 AM
5/16/2006Took everything off the bike expect for forks, frame, and swing arm. Positioned the new motor to mount while using wood underneath to protect the engine in case I drop it. I had a friend help me try to prop the motor up to the mount points so I can bolt it on, but it proved to be difficultThen I get the bright idea of dropping the frame onto the engine and bolt it on directly on the floor. Worked perfect. Had it bolted on in 15 mins. I was missing a few bolts and spacers so I ordered a whole bolt & nut set from a supplier for 45 bucks shipped. Included every bolt, nut, spacer, axle, even the tool kit, horn, and misc stuff in the deal. Right after this is when cops seized the gixxer and had absolutely the worst day in my life. After that the cops took the bike away, I was pissed as hell so I tried to cool down and started walking. Next thing I know I walked 15 miles in the middle of the night and ended up at a friends apartment and got drunk. I didn't work on the RR project for months. Then in the summer I was dealing with the legal issues, which cost me even more money and grief, and in after the 1st court date, they ruled some bs shit and I got it continued. Then I blasted out of the court room, again pissed off and walked some 10 miles that day again. When I started to run, my right knee kept giving out so the next day I went to the doctor and got an MRI. Then I found out I had a torn ACL, actually I had no ACL because the ligament was dead and my body dissolved it. So I got knee surgery on both knees in August, which happened to be 4 days before my next court date. All pissed off again, I decided (stupidly) to go in person and tried to get it dropped (had my parents with me) as I was recovering; still on crutches and all hyped up on oxycodone. We get to the court house and found out my parents hired a lawyer against my wishes (which actually was a good thing) and ended up getting it dropped. But only after I went through lots of pain and waiting at the court house for over 4 hours in my condition. And the worst part was that because I had knee surgery, I couldn't bend my legs and couldn't sit down. I remained standing using my crutches for most of the time until some helpful police officers noticed me and helped me lay down in the adjacent empty court room. Cops are the nicest; down to earth people, but DMV and the court system can go fu*k themselves in the ass.10/5/2006So after I started to get better from surgery, forgot the whole ordeal, and a new vision on life in general, I began work on the RR once more. Finally bolted the engine correctly and added the 05 wiring harness on, as well as the rims. At the same time, I also fixed my F2, a friends 650sv, and another friend's old Yamaha 600. Actually fixing my friend's bike was the motivation to restart my RR project again.10/7/2006I added the subframe and the clip-ons and attempted the wiring, but the wiring proved to be the biggest hurdle since I'm mixing years and not all the connectors are the same. I called up the Honda dealership and the on-hand mechanic said that the 04 and 05 wiring harness should be the same, but suggested to use the 05 wiring and ECM on the 05 engine. But this was the same weekend of when Apex, NC (where I live) had a huge chemical and I had to be evacuated as I lived a mile away from the chemical storage plant... I was actually in the garage at 2 in the morning on friday when the cops showed up. I wasn't allowed to return until the following sunday.http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/10/06/plant.fire/index.html10/29/2006I did a lot of work. I printed out full schematics for the bike and finally got a hold of the 600rr 2003 repair manual thanks to people off this site. That definitely helped me out. I also got a good deal on a new subframe so I put the new one on.I also added the radiator and piping. Had to cut some new piping as the old pipes were rashed and broken. Good thing I have some spare pipes around from other projects.Damn hooligans, they stabbed my bike.11/3/2006I hooked up all the cables and wires using the 05 harness and thought I had the wiring done. Didn't work...I installed the new clip-on and throttle assembly only to find out that I installed the throttle cables backwards... So I had to go back and swap the cables... which is really hard after the throttle body is installed on the bike. After that, I became to study the diagrams in full detailed and actually used highlighters and colored the different cables on paper to show the routing easier and totally made everything easier.Since I was such a great mood, I cleaned up the garage and laid down some carpeting (free) and rearranged the bikes a bit. I also put the airbox back on and routed the remaining wires correctly. I bought a new front rim and rotors for 280 shipped. Around this time I also got in on the group buy for the Scorpio Alarms and was the same time when my friend's 05 750 gixxer was recovered (stolen in late September). So I bought two and held one for him. He's still currently waiting for his bike. New floor11/6/2006A mini project in making a rear seat cowl using fiberglass and resin. Already applied a 2nd layer, but still requires a 3rd, maybe fourth. Still not finished yet.12/3/2006The current condition of the bike. Replaced the 05 wiring with the 04 wiring and the bike runs great. Lots of smoke from the oil that was all over the headers when I replaced the filter and added new oil. I'm using a gixxer battery that's a bit too tall for the bike so the rider seat won't fit on, so I'm using a pair of blue jeans as a ghetto seat cover to ride it up and down in the hood.Only has 4300 miles on it, but the new engine actually only has 2500. Yes, I'll eventually replace the housing when I get the bike all pretty again.

crap, some incorrect grammar in there. Wrote that 3 in the morning... Oh wells.and what do you mean pics are cluttered? How cluttered it looks with shit all over the place? I try to clean up a bit and organize, but I end up being lazy and have 2 to 4 sets of ratchets, screwdrivers, hammers, allen wrenches, pliers and so on, strategically placed so I don't have to keep getting up. Although, I tend to loose shit with my method. [Edited on December 4, 2006 at 10:39 AM. Reason : ]

So, basically the police wasted their resources charging you without ever even looking into the person you bought the bike from? Stuff like this amazes me.How did the guy convince you to buy a bike without the title though? That was definately a big mistake.

12/4/2006 1:58:00 PM
The vin number was different. didn't check the bike because I was excited in getting it. And the RR isn't the nicest bike. The F2 was the nicest and most expensive bike of them all before I hit the deer. The RR was ghetto as shit and the cheapest. How much stupid shit have you done mark? I've been a boy scout all my life and I felt like it's time to just do something stupid and have some fun. I really don't care. Live life to the fullest and have fun. Fuck the idiots and bomb the rest. Go USA... And I stated this before. I don't really care about losing 4k to the gixxer deal. I just felt that it was not handled properly nor professionally by the DMV officer in charge. I tried to be reasonable with the man and apologized as well as shook his hand firmly; explaining to him my situation, but he didn't give a shit. From the time He contacted me and the bike taken from me was 4 hours and I was at work at the time when He called me... How is that Obstruction of justice? I had to take time off from work losing wages in order to please him... He could not comprehend that. Nor did he care, he felt as though I was 4 hours late to a meeting that I never showed up at because I was never informed... At least his associate was reasonable, but didn't want to help me one bit. And the Apex cop on hand actually talked to the DMV officer to get the possession of stolen property dropped. I still feel that DMV officers are NOT real cops and will never earn my respect. I don't give a shit, they all are on some power trip and raping good citizens in the ass on BS.*End Rant*[Edited on December 4, 2006 at 3:29 PM. Reason : ]

i never said i don't do stupid stuff. i'm just tired of hearing your stupid mistakes over and over (i'm not going to stunt, then you crack and engine and tear an acl even after seeing your friend do something similar when stunting)my problem is that you go around spouting 'eagle scout' like you are some big responsible person, yet you were excited and didn't check the legalities when you bought the bike (aka not responsible). If you are tired of being a boyscout and want to do stupid shit, then don't pull the boyscout card to get you out of situation that your stupidity got you in to.and you don't mind that you lost 4 grand? if i just lost 4 grand and hours of my time i'd be pretty fucking pissed not only at the person that sold me the bike, but also at myself for making such a substantial mistake.[Edited on December 4, 2006 at 6:48 PM. if you could get a choice to loose 4 grand or have legal problems what would you choose? I'd choose loosing 4 grand without having legal problems. I just got stuck with booth.I know what I did was stupid but look at this way, I was responsible enough to keep the stunting off public roads. And have you ever been conned or mugged before? You really can't foresee everything. Shit happens and it's just another lesson you learn. Mistakes are mistakes, something you learn from. I'm polite and take responsibility for my actions. At least agree on me there.

12/4/2006 7:46:30 PM
JBaz, sorry to hear the hard times. Sounds like you've learned a lot thru it all. At least that much you can be proud of. I still don't understand all the sport bike sport, especially with all the liability you're certainly subjecting your body to (don't mention all the $TEXAS), but hey, it's not my life. I nearly lost $1000 in a house deal that fell thru before getting $850 back, and I'm telling ya, that $150 still goes thru my mind every now and then. That bitch STOLE $150 from me, and it's that kind of deal this one chalks up to, so there's no WAY I'd be content in my mind to let go of $4000 (although I understand your point about choosing it over legal trouble). Regardless, your writeup is great. Keep us caught up on your progress! Can't wait to see how the build goes.[Edited on December 4, 2006 at 9:52 PM. Reason : oops]
