So we're in the process of replacing a clutch and we are at the point where we need to take off the flywheel. This is a huge pain in the ass with out an air compressor and impact gun, so we'd like to know if any one has a compressor and impact gun/set that we may borrow for a little bit, just enough time to take the flywheel off and zip it back on. give us a call at 786-683-8846 if you could help us out

if its a honda you better have a serious gun and a decent compressor
12/3/2006 7:53:56 PM
^yes no shit hahahaha

I'm helping a friend do this. This is the 4th clutch swap I've done. 2 of the others I had an air wrench to get off the bolts which helped a whole lot, otherwise it takes forever and you have to wedge stuff into the flywheel to keep it from spinning. It's not for a Honda, and using an impact gun has nothing to do with starches. nvmnd i read it in a hurry i though you were talking about crank pulleyfor flywheel a cheap gun should do fine. i have both a gun and a compressor but compressor is too much of the pain in the ass to be moved[Edited on December 3, 2006 at 11:33 PM. Reason : .]

Bump. He kinda needs the car to go back home after exams, and having a tranny would probably come in handy.

Thanks for the loads of help I got from everyone.I guess the general thought about TWW users being eThug assholes is correct.I ask for help and everyone just makes fun of me? wow.

Do what I did on my last engine swap. A buddy of mine has my good impact gun, and the shitpiece gun I have at the house wouldn't even touch it.Get a long bar and wedge between two of the clutch bolts (or get you two bolts the same size that you're not worried about trashing). Then use a long breaker bar to break 'em loose. Some of us just suck it up and figure out a way to do it instead of whining about getting called out on TWW.That said, if I was in Raleigh, I might be willing to help. But I'm not in Raleigh.

im not a racist, thats whats so insane about this
12/4/2006 8:52:05 PM
^ Yeah, i don't want to be whiney, its just that I'm so busy and I don't want to bother with this during exams. In the past I have either wedged a bar into the flywheel teeth to keep it from moving, or put on 2 breaker bars on bolts opposit each other. One of the bars i brace against the ground, the other I have loosen and I pull on it. I guess I will just have to try that.I'm just trying to avoid a major PITA. On a side note, I asked for an air set for Xmas

this is nothing 6'-0" of pipe can't solve
12/4/2006 9:29:15 PM
yeah, but those are hard to fit under a car on jackstands. We have 2 3" pipes

allright buy or borrow a cheap electric impact gun. they dont cost all that much at northern (bout 70 dolla) and keep it for future use. you can borrow my air gun but as i said i you would still need a compressor and a hose.
12/4/2006 11:34:49 PM
have you tried a 1/2" drive breaker bar and a heavy hammer? pull on it with the bar as hard as you can without turning the flywheel, and tap the bar about halfway down while pulling, if not, theres always the old rope in the plug hole
12/4/2006 11:41:23 PM
If anyone has an electic one i could borrow that would be cool , otherwise i might just make my friend buy one.
12/4/2006 11:56:04 PM
can you rent/borrow an electric impact from advance? I know they do a loaner tool program for specialty tools, but i'm not sure if that is a tool they offer.
12/5/2006 1:06:02 AM
holland rentalls might.. although i will go rob nothern before i rent anything from them assholes at holland
12/5/2006 2:21:47 AM
^^ no they don't offer any electric tools, its always on sale thought, usually 60-70 bucks, not too bad, also you can buy it, us it and not hurt it and take it back if the manager is kool[Edited on December 5, 2006 at 2:23 AM. Reason : .]

Browsing the net I saw they sell one at Northern it's a kawasaki $70, says it gives 200 lbs of torque so i might give that a try.
12/5/2006 2:04:02 PM
Well, we used the "chain method" and she came right off. Tools needed: breaker bar, socket, metal chain, 2 bolts with the same thread as bellhousing bolts .
12/5/2006 7:10:31 PM
congrats u whiney lil bitch
12/5/2006 8:08:49 PM
