Man I used to be into this shit heavily back in the day. My neighbors house bumped up to 100 or so acres of farmland, which was deceiving because the fields were small or narrow and we'd always get the rockets lost in the trees.

We did some funny stuff with rocket engines. We shoved two C14s into the back of an F14 plastic model (model was about 20" long) and fired it off. It managed to get about 20 feet in the air before taking a nose dive and setting a small field on fire.

We made some PVC rockets and started a small stampede of cows with those.

We took some kite string and tied 300 feet of it from one tree to another, glued some hollow pen tubes to the rocket engines and fired them down the string (that didn't work so well).

Stuffed the small mosquitos with gunpowder and fired those off (neighbors weren't so happy about that).

I still have an Alpha III sitting in a closet waiting for me to actually get bored enough one day to go shoot it off.

what size rockets? low power/HP are you wanting to launch black powder based engines, aka estes/quest, or composite, or hybrid?

Whitakers nc, near rocky mount, is where we go to launch bigger stuff at the monthly tripoli/nar club launches

I launch a modded Laser-XL model on f and g engines, 29mm reloadable aereotech hardware. Biggest stuff launched has been on the EX launch days using home built experimentals, seen ones with p and q engines
Site is cleared to 8k feet, 12k if we call in on launch day, they have a nice 12v controlelr for laucnhes and all launch setups up to a 16 foot unistrut launch rail for the big stuff.

Ken, the guy who runs Performane Hobbies shows up at msot launches with his mobile hobby shop, he stocks everything from 25 cent replacemnt o rings to 1600 dollar high power roickets that will do 25-30k feet.

Next launch is the weekend of the 16th/17th, chances are it will be the 17th only as a local hunting club uses the field on saturdays during deer searson.

I went to Whitakers a couple times with my uncle from Kentucky, pretty sweet seeing those high-powered rockets. I should try digging up those videos that I shot...
