can you perm color treated hair and not end up with frizz? I've heard yes and no and I'm wondering if anyone has done it and what their experience was.

You can perm color treated hair, but you really need to let the hair rest between the coloring and the perm. If you don't, you will definitely end up with frizz. It just depends on your hair and just how colored/damaged it is.

why not just color it, then pin it or hot roll? More work I guess, but I would think it's less damaging to the hair.

I colored my hair 4 months ago and put an extra acid body perm in it 3 months later (I have really thick hair so I needed a extra body perm)- I have so much frickin frizz that its crazy, I can't comb my hair, and I have no curls, maybe a few waves - the hairdressers dont understand it - and on top of that, the perm changed my hair color to a light blond, which was really weird

I go through a huge bottle of conditioner a week, because my hair is ruined from the perm and coloring - its not worth it

be careful of what you do to your hair, dont ruin it - because mine looks like shit and Im pulling out knots every day from my frizz that gets tangled in my sleep

^^^Some hair will not hold a curl without a perm. My hair will not hold curl worth a damned. But then again my hair will not even hold a perm -- it falls out almost immediately. You would not believe what we went through to get my hair to hold curl long enough for me to walk down the aisle. It had all fallen out by the time the reception was over.

I would wait at least 36 hours. I would also probably perm my hair first. You can get some strange results putting a perm second because of the chemicals in the perm. If you hair is already colored and you want to put in a perm, call the company that put out your hair color.
