Why is it lame that Im offering to fix a computer. Someone up here offered cleaning services for money...I'm sure she didnt charge outrageous prices and I'm not going to either!

Its and two man crew. We'll fix any problem for $20! We'll put a computer together, install hardware and network for $20!

We also do contract work for small business, organizations and corporate enviroments.

We figure why not charge you less for some that takes us nothing to do. Its a win-win situation. Help us help you and support. Thanks to all!

So your time is worth nothing? Perhaps you should re-investigate your business model.

Sounds great, man!

I'll keep you in mind and let me friends know -- assuming you really know how to fix pc's and not fuck them up!

Either way, good luck.

Ive been considering doing something similiar to this around campus but never did. Its crazy what BestBuy will charge people to do simple tasks like installing RAM or cleaning off Spyware.

Are you guys actually getting any business? If so have you considered adding to the work crew?

i got a laptop that ran fine but there seems to be a problem with the power getting from the cord (which works fine) to the system. and thus wont charge a battery or let the system power on when a battery is dead... can you fix that?

On a side note, I now offer Jet Engine Repair.

Small Corporate Jet - No Problem

Commercial Airline Fleet - We're on it!

International Airport - Bring it on.

It is rediculous what these damn mechanics charge, I'll do anything for $20 an hour!

Please see my thread for more details

Does it not bother anyone that people offer services with no references or background information, sure some places overcharge, but they do have some experience. Anyone can open a computer and start tinkering, or download spybot and click the clean button. Don't let some jackleg screw up your entire corporation!

I'm sure you are all quite aware how difficult it is to sell a product let alone offer any type of computer related services. I respect your opinion but would also like to add that although our competent works will speak for us the words and comments of others also go a long way. Once again we thank you for the feedback. We'll be sure to address these issues and hope that the good work that we do can make as much impact as the posts above. Thank you all again.

You want the people that you DONT want to access these documents to not be able to accomplish this
We can network, setup up your network and test to make sure everything is working fine

Corporate Connoisseur - Here, we are offering to be an unsalaried net admin.

it sounds pretty cheesy, it might work for regular folk, but no way is some corporation gonna call a $20 Mr. fix it,
you're the $20 whore of the computer repair industry,
if you're gonna whore out your computer knowledge why not bump it up to $40
why? because you're worth it!

I have worked this computers since middle school.

I've taken classes in high school and college but most of what I've learned is through self-interest.

Not A+ or Cisco Certified because I changed majors thereby negating my need for these. (I'll be getting these in the future since I now have a need for these titles again.

The 2nd guy on the crew also became highly proficient with computers due to self-interest.

We have hands on knowlege, our textbook knowlege is supported with work in the field. We dont have degrees in the area but we know our stuff. I'm sure all of the painters, carpenters, landscapers and plumbers out there are also experts in their field and do GREAT work yet lack a degrees in the fields of the expertise.

We're just a couple of smart college kids that know what to do when it comes to computers and we want to make some extra cash.

Once again help us help you and support please. Thanks!

Yeah, your business model won't cut it in real life. The overhead will add up once you start doing calls. I work as a PC tech with a friend as a small business on the side that services over 200 clients, mostly other small businesses. I hope you've taken a few accounting classes to understand what it takes to run a business instead of a small under the table small jobs. It's also hard trying to enter the pc repair market and to get your name out there.

Also, if you want to advertise as a business, you need to contact the webmaster about ad space.

I do pc repair as well, honestly without an office and professional dress it will be nigh impossible to get a decent customer base here in Raleigh.... Wait till the summer the descend upon a small town. That is what I do and work as a software tester at a company, best of both worlds.

And I tried this when I was in HS years ago... And most of my customers were friends or friends of the family... Tried to expand by word of mouth, but it ended up with some sort of embarrassing story about me that gets passed around instead of the pc repair work that I could do... What are friends for...

Actually I started doing repair work for family and friends, word of mouth grew and I started being the only tech doing repair work for a few housing developments, before I graduated HS I had already put 2 other busineses out of work by being a bit cheaper and more reliable.
