So in thinking about how we can fill as many seats as possible during basketball games this year, I thought immediately about tickets that go un-used, and students that desperately are trying to get tickets who didn't receive them in the online lottery getting left out...Here is my proposal...1)Instead of letting your student ticket go to waste, why not have a make-shift place in front of the student entrance at the RBC center where you can just put your tickets down? Students without tickets can go over to the stadium and hope that there will be some tickets in this "designated area".2)If you printed out a student ticket through the online lottery, and you're not going to use it and can't find someone to take it immediately, drop it off in front of the gate. Odds are somebody will use it.If you requested a ticket and you're not using it then you will be rightfully punished. This will give you an opportunity to get rid of it instead of letting it go to waste. If you are like some people and print one off the lottery and ALSO get a Student Wolfpack Club ticket, then its up to you to decide how to get in the game. Just dont use the print off to get in and then use the SWPC for seating...that shafts 1 person from getting in.It actually works out to be fair if only people make the effort to get people in the seats. Yes, i know the RBC is off campus, which is the drawback, but give your ticket to someone who is going and let them drop it off.I really think this could potentially work and we could get more people into the game rather than empty seats (*as long as our students have the demand).

people are too lazy to drive over there and get rid of their tickets if they're not going. This online system blows asshole and its worse for basketball than it is for football.
11/28/2006 6:03:26 PM
this would require effort by the ticket officeso no
11/28/2006 6:03:54 PM
^ the point is that it wouldnt require effort from the ticket office.I'm saying you just drop them on a rock er something. ANYTHING.have a little plastic container that the security guards use, and drop them in.
11/28/2006 6:04:52 PM
and you have fifty people sorting through the tickets to find the best one or to find two together?it's a good idea, but would definitely have to be fine-tuned before implementation
11/28/2006 6:05:58 PM
if on the off chance they switched it to GA by first come first serve then it could work
11/28/2006 6:08:30 PM
or they could just come here and say i have a ticket available
11/28/2006 6:08:37 PM
^^ding ding
11/28/2006 6:10:41 PM
we should just simply lineup at the rbc before the game and swipe our ids to get in. first come first serve. This is how alot of schools do it. No tickets, no lottery, just a line.
11/28/2006 6:12:58 PM
and people that owe library fines get turned away
11/28/2006 6:13:36 PM
^lolim just trying to think of what could be done with what we have right now. cuz u know oblinger or whoever wont make any drastic change to anything regarding sports unless it hurts us.
11/28/2006 6:16:33 PM
the asterisks make it official
11/28/2006 6:17:55 PM
^^just do exactly what they did for the exhibition games....tickets print off as general admissionhow hard would that be?
11/28/2006 6:18:43 PM
the asterisks draw attention
11/28/2006 6:18:57 PM
ah hell, just do it like football. GA, first-come first-served, and use stamps to denote sections.
11/28/2006 6:21:10 PM
it definitely needs to be GA when you can print off tickets multiple times or can photoshop them.i actually printed off a buddies ticket and got a seat right on the midcourt line 3 rows back at the michigan game, i plan to do it again until they do something to stop me
11/28/2006 6:25:50 PM
or until someone with the real ticket decides to sit there?[Edited on November 28, 2006 at 6:28 PM. Reason : ticket not seat]
11/28/2006 6:28:36 PM
Good intention but it would never work. idk about you, but I'm not leaving my ticket points up to people's good will. What if it blows away? What if people don't come nad it doesn't get used? There are waaaaaaaaaaay to many what ifs. If I'm not using it and I can't put it in the hands of someone that I know will use it . . . I would rather just have a friend go in and out and then in again with my ticket.the current system could be used quite easily if they just let you cancel up until like an hour before tip and had on-demand run until like 10 minutes after the game started[Edited on November 28, 2006 at 6:39 PM. Reason : ]
11/28/2006 6:39:03 PM
why does on-demand end on gameday at noon? this makes no sense to me.
11/28/2006 7:05:22 PM
tickets should have hot naked women on them
11/28/2006 7:40:14 PM
I'm with bigstatemain
11/28/2006 7:45:44 PM
11/28/2006 7:46:51 PM

i personaly cussed out the online ticketing guy over the phone for the messed up system. everyone should call and let them know exactly what they think of the stupid thing!
11/28/2006 8:57:10 PM
And I'm sure you had a valid reason to do so.
11/28/2006 9:02:17 PM
we need to do like duke and get rid of the 2 "vip" rows (wtf is that anyway?) at leaast on one side so the students can be right at the court.
11/28/2006 9:36:03 PM
OR HOW ABOUT THEY LET PEOPLE GET TICKETS FROM THE WEBSITE UP UNTIL GAMETIME. I KNOW THERE'S BEEN QUITE A FEW TIMES WHEN FRIENDS HAVE DECIDED THEY WANTED TO GO TO A GAME AFTER THE 12PM CUTOFF AND THEN THEY CAN'T REQUEST A TICKET. OUR ONLINE TICKET SYSTEM SUCKS.
11/28/2006 9:48:04 PM
having tickets available online until gametime is the best solution, except for the fact they sell unused tickets at the window on gamenight, and need a few hours to parse the systemyou won't ever have GA in the arena, for the simple fact that students are already on 3 different levels, and the headache it would create is terrible...you would have a situation similar to Carter Finley, and people moving around in RBC is much more noticible to players and cameras...it's very distracting (don't believe me? ask the players)and stamps aren't a solution, because we get about a 1/3 of the tickets in the RBC that we get at Carter- Finley (that's because it's a 1/3 of the total size) and it's not worth the time or backup in line to do stamps or anything like that...basically, don't request a ticket unless you are positive you can go
11/29/2006 12:15:37 PM
and the complaint that you have to plan a week in advance....stop whinning and learn real world skills, like planning ahead
11/29/2006 12:16:27 PM
i plan ahead, im just saying that it will never be full unless its duke or unc, mostly others dont plan ahead but i strongly believe that you should be able to cancel your ticket up until gametime.
11/29/2006 12:21:26 PM
^no you shouldnt...then people who are unsure if they are going to the game will reserve tickets and prevent people who know they can go from going
