The standard def channels on Time Warner's SA 8300HD look like crap. I changed the settings so that it includes all formats, but this didn't help all that much. The HD channels look great, so I know it's not the TV. I also plugged the box in via coax, which helped, but made the picture much darker.Any ideas how to make it look better?

you're gonna want to change the settings to EXCLUDE all formats except for 720p (or 1080i if you're an idiot like that)

Standard Definition pictures looking like crap on High Definition displays is simply the nature of the beast. HDTV's are not made to look good with standard definition sources - they're made to display them in the event of an emergency. (no HD source available... )Until HDTV is made a standard, (which will inevitably never happen, despite what the media might make you believe...) we're all pretty much stuck with viewing less-than-stellar sources on beyond stellar displays. That is, of course, until the non-HD channels realize that by broadcasting in HD, they will actually increase the size of their audience (but they have to spend money initially to do this, so not likely anytime soon...)
