They should have been taking a serious look the last couple of years. He's always been what's holding the team back. Some years more than others.
11/27/2006 5:33:31 PM
FIRE DELHOMMEFIRE WEINKESTART BASANEZ
11/27/2006 6:22:59 PM
didnt they cut basanez? i always though that was a dumb decision, the kid had style[Edited on November 27, 2006 at 6:59 PM. Reason : just looked it up, hes on the practice squad. START BASANEZ]
11/27/2006 6:58:31 PM
is LaFors still on the team? he's played well in the past, however this was not the case in preseason. still, i think he's a better choice than delhomme right now and definitely better than stinky weinke
11/27/2006 7:10:04 PM
actually, lafors sucked and he is not on the team
11/27/2006 7:10:47 PM
BRING BACK RODNEY PEETE
11/27/2006 7:11:18 PM
actually, i wouldn't mind fox starting weinke next monday against philly. without mcnabb they shouldn't be much of a threat and it would give coach fox a chance to try him out for a little bit. we need a QB who doesn't throw crucial interceptions because we can't rely on our run game to bail us out every week.
11/27/2006 7:15:52 PM
I think the key words there was
11/27/2006 8:07:59 PM
The Panthers have nobody on the team who is anywhere near the QB Delhomme is.I'm not saying Delhomme is good, but he is better than our other players. This is something to bring back up in the off season, if he struggles the rest of the way.
11/27/2006 8:14:17 PM
GET BEUERLEIN BACK
11/27/2006 8:14:19 PM
PUT SAUERBRUN'S DOPED UP ASS UNDER CENTER
11/27/2006 8:21:00 PM
HE CAN THROW A BALL OVER THEM THERE MOUNTAINSWE'DA WON STATE!
11/27/2006 8:22:51 PM
i will have a lot of respect for Fox if he can bench delhomme w/o it requiring him to be knocked out, like vs. Detroit last year
11/27/2006 8:23:37 PM
11/27/2006 8:49:07 PM
bring back cry baby, i mean Kerry Collins
11/28/2006 8:06:03 AM
11/28/2006 8:32:38 AM
well, who's going to be available at the end of the season?is there anyone in college football worth trading up for and training? Quinn? Smith?[Edited on November 28, 2006 at 8:56 AM. Reason : .]
11/28/2006 8:55:51 AM
Quinn doesnt lick his hands as much
11/28/2006 9:07:39 AM
problem for the panthers is that they are too consistent in the reg. season to get a high enough draft pick to get a top-flight qb; the panthers keep getting basanez, lafors, and players like that in the later rounds that are usually long shots with the occasional good player turning out (see Tom Brady)and the problem with trading up to get a great college qb is that sometimes even the highest qb's drafted never "get it" at the NFL level (see Ryan Leaf). it would be hard for the franchise to tell themselves to jump way up, give away tons of draft picks to get there and maybe even a couple of good players that are already proven, and get a good college qb that you still don't know will pan out when you already have a serviceable, but not great, qb already playing for you.
11/28/2006 9:38:35 AM
jamarcus russell?
11/28/2006 10:26:01 AM
^^Gradkowski
11/28/2006 10:31:25 AM
the key is to draft someone that's said to be good, but hasn't gotten a lot of press
11/28/2006 10:33:14 AM
^^i said there were exceptions, but is gradkowski really better than delhomme?
11/28/2006 11:05:34 AM
Panthers need to draft a QB in the first round, and get Bret Favre for the last year of his career. [Edited on November 28, 2006 at 12:20 PM. Reason : vr]
11/28/2006 12:20:16 PM
11/28/2006 12:23:28 PM
For everyone who thinks Delhomme should be benched for Weinke:Do you have any idea how much more success Jake has had as a starter?Weinke's season as a starter: 1-15 recordJake's ~3.5 seasons as a starter: 2 NFC Title games, 1 Superbowl appearance, a current > .500 record
11/28/2006 12:24:03 PM
the next 3 games should be cakewalks. if we drop one of them, I bet delhomme will be out.
11/28/2006 12:27:41 PM
no such thing as a cakewalk in the NFL
11/28/2006 12:33:23 PM
11/28/2006 12:34:55 PM
Chris Simms huhyou'd rather have Chris Simms than Delhommeahaahahhahahfaogwahwgohhahahahahahaheaherhrezrsdg
11/28/2006 12:40:15 PM
No way we bench Delhomme this year, that would just be dumb as shit...Simms over Delhomme...NEVAQuinn, Smith, & Brohm will all be good QB's in the League, but I think Quinn will have quicker success III
11/28/2006 12:46:30 PM
Matt Shaub is a restricted free agent, I think ATL will keep him.But I would like to give him a tryout.
11/28/2006 12:47:14 PM
SIGN JAY DAVIS
11/28/2006 12:52:23 PM
I would Take schuab no doubt, but ATL has to keep him. This may be the last year for Vick to start in ATL if he does not figure a way of winning some of these remaining games. I am thinking he has to at least go .500 with the remaining games. And no way would I want Vick.... III
11/28/2006 12:52:25 PM
No way they bench Delhomme this year. He wont even lose his starting job for the beginning of next year unless the panthers practically lose out. We have no QB on the bench that the organization will risk the rest of the season to help his learning curve (i.e. J. Cutler in Denver) and we wont get a good enough QB in the draft to start next season. Trading for or picking up a QB from FA is really the only way he will lose his job. You put Basanez in there this year and he gets his legs broken behind that terrrible O-line.Oh and Jake Plummer may be on the market at the end of the year with aaron brooks, drew bledsoe, and more shameful options that wont oust jake from his job.... Im sure some idiot will want Kerry Collins back too....
11/28/2006 12:52:26 PM
Is Delhomme a Peyton Manning type QB? Hell noIs Delhomme the best QB we have? Hell yes
11/28/2006 12:53:23 PM
Hell yeah, Treezy. We dont need a Manning type QB, Jake is all we need (and hes cheap!). All we need is a healthy O-line and a Stephen Davis clone.
11/28/2006 12:54:53 PM
I mean everybody would love a (Peyton) ManningBut Baltimore and Tampa showed you dont need one to win a Superbowlhell Jake damn near won a Superbowl a few years ago]
11/28/2006 1:14:51 PM
11/28/2006 3:17:33 PM
yeah the washington loss was fucking pathetic...only thing i could guess is that the panthers were intimidated by all the black people in washington...i hear that place is like one of the top 5 dangerous cities in america
11/28/2006 3:19:22 PM
the panthers have never won in washington
11/28/2006 3:21:11 PM
this was the perfect time to start too and they fucking blew it, just like they blew it against cincy, dallas, and minnesota
11/28/2006 3:23:09 PM
minnesota cant really be blamed on delhomme imo...i think gamble was a fucking douche in that game
11/28/2006 3:28:07 PM
yeah, im about sick of gamble's ass too
11/28/2006 3:29:13 PM
yeah him and minter missing that tackle about gave me a heart attacki've never really thought minter was that great anyway(i consider him average at best)...i know they say he is one of those team leader type people, but damn, get someone better
11/28/2006 3:31:14 PM
You people are missing the point....O-LINE!!!!! If Jake is pressured in the pocket, yeah he's been bad. If they can releive some of the pressure, he's a top ten QB. If they can't get that Oline working, they need a QB that can scramble some, i.e. Troy Smith, or maybe trade for someone who can. This is also why the "run oriented" offense looks like shit. You can't run without and Oline.
