everyday my new roadrunner needs to be reset like times? It is a netgear and it works good when it works. Does anyone know why it keeps shuting off?

You're running BitTorrent and it's crashing your router because you're downloading too much. Idle back your downloads to have a max connections of 20 and only downloaded 3 files at the same time. (that's more than you need but your neighbors will like you)

my netgear does the same thing....bittorrent will do it, but so do some games. basically the router is garbage, but i dont feel like gettin a new one. i had to switch back to a wired connection cause i was tired of havin to reset the router every 15 minutes or so.

if your router is crashing due to number of outbound connections, it is garbage, or there is a firmware update to fix it

update firmware
might need to call twc, signal might be weak

^ Then most routers are garbage. Each of the 3 lynksys WRT54g's i've had (before and after firmware updates) are easily overwhelmed. The firmware updates HELPED and made the router lock up less frequently as well as reset itself when it did lock up, but unbridled bit-torrent or even emule use would pretty much always crash them. The same goes for the the netgear WGR614 router I've used.

Sure these aren't good routers, but those two models represent a very large chunk of the people using wireless routers. The WRT54G has to be one of the single most common routers out there.

Home routers were not designed for commercial level connectivities that bittorrent does.

WRT54G is one of the best routers out there

No one uses the Linksys provided firmware though, at least if you know what you are doing.

^Linksys stupidly changed around the platform after that version.

But before that, it had highly customizable firmware options, as well as being extremely stable.

my v5 took some tweaking, but i got rid of the vmware os and loaded up dd-wrt...the only disadvantage is that the v5+ has less memory, but in all honesty, i don't need or even use all of the features, so the memory issue isn't a problem...i DO like dd-wrt and its multitude of options, though

We've got that router as well, using Linux software on it, damn thing randomly doesn't send any data over the wireless. Eh, go figure. Believe it or not my parent's D-Link has never failed them!

Believe it or not, my parents, my roommate, and myself have the same internet demands asshat.

We don't do anything extreme such as filesharing on either network, however, for some reason their router survives up in the attic with extreme temperature yet ours locks up in the living room once a week.
