I'm just curious how a buyout works. For instance, Chuck has a base salary of ~200k / year and the "package" which includes his TV shows, endorsements, etc. is like 950k / year. If he was bought out, would he be entitled to the 950k or just the 200k per year.

And say he is entitled to only 200k per year. I'm assuming he wouldn't actually get the full amount (600k) right? They would just settle with him for some agreed upon price.

i think he means if the school fired him, not if another school came by and wanted him. our school would have to pay if his contract wasn't finished, probably not the full amount but like u said, something around 600K i'm guessing. there is usually language in the contract that says how much he'll get if it is terminated before completion.

Sometimes the contract has a buy out clause.
