I ordered a turbo back exhaust system for my WRX and I've never really attempted to install anything like this. Should I try to do it myself, or take it somewhere and have it professionally installed?

wow, do you also call AAA for help changing tires?

Fuck off cocksmoker i fail to see the similarity between changing a tire and installing an exhaust system.

it takes about the same amount of time and a little common sense

^ Hey, I remember when I first started working on my car, even though I was doing something simpe like installing my cat-back, I was worried I was going to fuck it up. Installing exhaust isn't hard.

Thanks, that's all I needed to know.

You may want a can of PB Blaster or some thing like that on hand. Make sure you have whatever extensions or swivels that you need. You may need an 02 sensor socket, or you can most likely use an open ended wrench. You may want a new exhaust gasket for the turbo.Installs like this really aren't that hard.

And a pipe to put your wrenches in to break the nuts if the pb blaster doesn't work.

When I did mine, my car was on ramps, and I was on my back. There wasn't room for a pipe, but I had rope. I tied a slip knot in the rope and put it over the end of the wrench. Then I had a friend who was beside the car pull on the rope. They could apply a lot more force than I could from under the car.Moral: Have a friend or somebody else there (garage people love to help when they have time) to help you out.

How'd you wreck your banana colored car?

Is this one of those turbo exhaust systems, or one of those "turbo" exhausts?
11/22/2006 10:26:23 PM
i think it probably blows out flames and stuff.

Did you have some trouble with the exhaust?
11/23/2006 7:33:18 PM
I had some trouble with a bitch in a white corsica pulling out in front of me while I was doing about 65.

Definately use PB blaster. Make sure you have some good half inch drive sockets and extensions. You don't necessarily super high quality tools if you just wrench occasionally. Go to Walmart and buy the Stanley 1/2" drive breaker bar and 1/2" drive extension set, and then get a good set of sockets. Don't get discouraged if it takes a while. Every project does if it's the first time. Be willing to go back to the store to buy tools if you don't think you have what you need.
