I've opened the ports necessary that were listed, hell I've even made my computer's IP a DMZ, and the Xbox360 still can't see my computer.

Computer: 192.168.1.101
Xbox 360: 192.168.1.102

What is wrong? When I was going through the setup menu for the xbox, it said I needed to write down an 8 digit code and go to some website. I installed the software but they never asked me for the code at all... what did I do wrong? I have tried both Windows Media Connect and that stupid Zune player.. nothing.

Do you have the Xbox listed as an allowed device inside WMC?

Are you trying to use the remote media center or windows media connect? Windows media connect does not require that code. The 8-digit code is for windows media center.

^^^ No it doesn't show up.

^^ No.

^I''ve used both the media sharing on Zune software and the Windows Media Connect. The problem is that my xbox 360 and my computer can't see each other.

which version of windows do you have???? I didn't use media connect. I just installed the new version of Windows player and it worked. Actually at first it didn't. I had to go back in under my 360 and found where to allow it. Seems like I had to do it in two different places. Now it works fine.

^XP SP2, where did you have to go to allow it? And did you just use windows media player? I can't get version 11 because it has to "verify my genuine copy" which... isn't....

Dear sir,
You just told the police you have a pirated copy of windows.

Dear deputy dog,
Which slang term do you like the most for police officer?
I prefer "the fuzz" but am un-aware of its origin and did not want to insult.
(obviously you do not mind po-po)

the 360 only recognizes wmv files from what i have seen, and pictures that in 'my pictures' folder in 'my documents'. the funny thing about the videos is that they have to be in the shared video folder, which is under, if i remember correctly, C:/documents and settings/ all users/documents/shared videos. at least it is like this on my computer, maybe you can change the path in the set-up prompt, but i just left everything at the default since i figured this was most likely the best.

its supposed to be able to play mpeg2 as well and there are a couple converters optimized for the 360 out.

the funny thing is is that its easier to set up a mac to connect to a 360 than it is a pc

whats funnier than that is that i don't believe you have a mac hooked your a 360 and you are just talking
