seems like he is headed straight ahead now with his pursuit of the presidency in 2008...this is a huge leap forward and he even opened a website for it, but I dont know the URL.McCain...another republican president, will it happen??? Im sure alottttt of people will consider him, this could make for a very interesting race especially with ex-mayor Rudolph on the radar.especially with Clinton supposedly runningtalk about a BIG NAME race
11/15/2006 4:40:58 PM
McCain is a dumbass who I could never vote for. People call him a maverick, but in the end he is just another republican who is more concerned about the party then America.
11/15/2006 4:50:23 PM
if you asked the gop membership if they thought of him as a republican, most of them would say yes only because he is popular as a mavrick and they need him for campaigning...but they dont really consider him a true republican
11/15/2006 4:54:58 PM
now add Tommy Thompson to that titleeveryone coming out of the woodwork today.
11/15/2006 4:59:09 PM
Look at how he votes in the Senate. he votes a vast majority of the time with the republicans.Look at his rankings by non-profit interests groups and you'll realize he isn't a maverickhttp://www.vote-smart.org/issue_rating_category.php?can_id=S0061103
11/15/2006 5:01:04 PM
As opposed to Hillary Clinton, who would never EVER tow a party line.
11/15/2006 5:04:44 PM
hes a republican that just hides some of his interest in smaller matters in a democrats costume...basically, hes more than a maverick, hes actually a VERY influential piece in this whole chess match of congress
11/15/2006 5:07:52 PM
11/15/2006 5:08:44 PM
Well, don't you think it's appropriate to bring them up when he was talking about not voting for him and the other major candidate is most likely going to be...a Clinton?I dunno, maybe logic doesn't work that way in lala land.
11/15/2006 5:15:22 PM
^^most of the time I would LOL at a post like that, but in this case I think it was pretty clear that bgmims only brought up hilary because she is ALSO a high profile likely presidential candidate in '08 and is therefore the other option[Edited on November 15, 2006 at 5:15 PM. Reason : damn you are quick^]
11/15/2006 5:15:30 PM
so we've pretty much concluded that hillary will win the dems nomination, i guess?
11/15/2006 5:19:08 PM
^ not me. http://www.exploremccain.com/
11/15/2006 5:23:10 PM
I am not concluding anything. I think it is pretty well established, though, that at this point in time (2 years before the election) that Hilary seems to be the front runner for the nomination should she choose to run at all. Therefore, it was relevant for him to bring up *gasp* a Clinton in this conversion.Other times, it is pretty ignorant for the standard republican response to be "oh yeah! well Clinton did it too....duuuuuurrrrrrr"
11/15/2006 5:29:16 PM
Thank you fuckers for defending me(just kidding about you being fuckers, you never get laid) [Edited on November 15, 2006 at 5:36 PM. Reason : smile]
11/15/2006 5:36:40 PM
Howard Dean should run again.
11/15/2006 6:13:54 PM
i will kinda-sorta agree with nutsmackr that Senator McCain is not a renegade or maverick in the sense that he's a RINO (as many people seem to have some illusion of). He's is quite clearly very much a Republican, probably more so than most of those in the party right now. However, he has demostrated on a number of occassions that he has no qualms about breaking ranks and butting heads with the GOP establishment. In that sense, I would say that he is a maverick of sorts. In any case, I hope he gets elected. He would be some serious good medicine for America. I could probably get on board with Giuliani as his running mate, too...but that ticket would probably be a little much for the GOP base, largely because they don't know what's good for them (i.e., the difference in public perception versus reality for both of those men, particularly McCain).
11/15/2006 6:24:57 PM
I know a couple of libertarians have major problems with McCain, but I'd certainly consider him over Clinton.I'm not sure how I feel about Obama yet. I am looking forward to hearing more on the issues and hopefully quite a few debates.
11/15/2006 8:21:35 PM
mccain over clintonmccain vs obama would be very interesting
11/15/2006 8:49:17 PM
^I agree
11/15/2006 9:00:59 PM
McCain is the only political candidate I have ever given money to, and I plan to make him the first one in whose campaign I involve myself in a big wayAll you haters should get used to the idea of occupying the dustbin of history
11/15/2006 9:15:55 PM
if its Obama vs Clinton in the primaries i think the democratic party will explode.
11/15/2006 9:26:52 PM
right now i'm leaning towards Rudy...dunno about Obama yet[Edited on November 15, 2006 at 9:27 PM. Reason : .]
11/15/2006 9:27:07 PM
Obama is too new, and, unfortunately, too black[Edited on November 15, 2006 at 9:30 PM. Reason : Americans might accept a black guy they were more familiar with, like Powell...we're too neolithic]
11/15/2006 9:29:39 PM
i was just commenting on the "omg do I vote for the woman or the black dude" aspect of it all
11/15/2006 9:33:39 PM
i've seen some black writers say obama isn't really 'one of us' because his dad was from kenya and his mom was white and that he grew up in hawaii
11/15/2006 9:36:30 PM
ahahahahawell he's screwed
11/15/2006 9:39:43 PM
i also just looked some stuff upbad enough his name rhymes with 'osama'but check out his dad's name
11/15/2006 9:50:59 PM
yeah thats not gonna happen
11/15/2006 9:56:47 PM
Well, people love Tiger Woods, don't they?
11/15/2006 10:09:46 PM
yeah but his name doesn't rhyme with 'hitler'
11/15/2006 10:31:04 PM
^^ he isnt black rememberand he isnt trying to get black golf watchers to vote for him
11/15/2006 10:34:51 PM
barack is half black, right?so is woods.then again, if he was Tiger Muhammad Hussein Al-Khomeini Amanadinejahad, then there would be issues...
11/15/2006 10:51:37 PM
11/15/2006 11:08:31 PM
McCain will suffer from the same disadvantage that Gore did back in 2000. Everyone wanted to forget Clinton and his scandels, and that meant not voting for his VP. McCain will suffer the backlash of being a Republican thanks to Bush's gaffes these past eight years. Just look at the midterms. A vote for democrats = a vote for change.I hope I'm wrong too, b/c McCain would get my vote in a heartbeat. He's a Republican to be sure, but he breaks ranks when the current administration tries to pull some shit. And honestly, I'll vote for Nader before I vote for Hillary...
11/16/2006 12:29:49 AM
i repeat: it would be a huge mistake for dems to nominate hillary. i honestly hope that they aren't that stupid to think that she could possibly win.
11/16/2006 12:42:01 AM
11/16/2006 7:29:33 AM
^ exactly my thoughts
11/16/2006 2:21:55 PM
^^ well said
11/19/2006 10:34:28 PM
i've liked mccain when it's not near election time. but during even years he shifts back into his party hack mode.
11/20/2006 12:56:15 AM
^ I agree. im not holding my breath for anything amazing

11/20/2006 4:01:00 AM
it will come down to not voting for hillary, ill back anyone else that's not as bad as her
11/20/2006 1:52:29 PM
if the democrats choose clinton or obama for the nomination, i'm leaving the party
11/20/2006 1:54:54 PM
^I think a thought more people on the democrat, but not insanely so side of the table have in mind. I don't know why they wouldn't run Obama. Not only is he a much better candidate, but many many more people would rather have the first black president than the first heinous cunt president.
11/20/2006 1:55:14 PM
how is obama better than hilary?the guys been in office like 2 years
11/20/2006 1:56:24 PM
11/20/2006 1:58:36 PM
i think hilary has a better chance than him, and she wont win either...all i know is if they pick one of those 2 i'm either not voting or switching parties or something
11/20/2006 2:00:23 PM
11/20/2006 2:22:03 PM
Excuse me, I meant "I think a lot more people" and "democratic"SorryAlso,
