I missed the Toss Up with Rivers, what did they say?
11/14/2006 6:02:01 PM
they said he is a bust
11/14/2006 6:03:06 PM
No, they said he was the second best qb in the league, behind peyton.[Edited on November 14, 2006 at 6:05 PM. Reason : qb]
11/14/2006 6:04:56 PM
It was which one is better: Romo or Rivers. One of the guys said Romo because philip knew he was gonna start this year.
11/14/2006 6:05:01 PM
It is necessary to make a new thread every time someone mentions his name.
11/14/2006 6:05:27 PM
yes
11/14/2006 6:05:45 PM
[yes]
11/14/2006 6:06:22 PM
11/14/2006 6:09:58 PM
wtf is that?
11/14/2006 6:10:41 PM
They said he eats lightning, and craps thunder.

11/14/2006 6:17:53 PM
tony thought romo was more impressive and wilbon said what 1985 was referring to.
11/14/2006 7:00:06 PM
we and mario got slammed on todays pti !!
12/7/2006 6:00:05 PM
haha, we deserve to be slammedin more ways than one
12/7/2006 6:02:00 PM
playoffs!
12/7/2006 6:04:11 PM
what did they say about ncsu and mario?
12/7/2006 6:04:28 PM
They said the reason Tomlinson is doing so well is that all the defenses are so focused on Rivers' passing game
12/7/2006 6:05:05 PM
said TOB made a lateral move and didnt improve at all coming to a mediocre nc state program that hasnt been winningand they said the texans botched the draft and should have taken vince young or bush over him
12/7/2006 6:05:33 PM
they said NC State is a stepdown for O'Brien
12/7/2006 6:05:35 PM
12/7/2006 6:09:55 PM
^haha nah i just made that up
12/7/2006 6:11:34 PM
^ we were unclear of that fact !
12/7/2006 7:18:34 PM
12/7/2006 7:22:09 PM
what's wrong with a lateral move? his salary is not a lateral move, i am sure.besides, the whole reason we are looking for a new coach is that the old one put us in a position that is a step up for no one except maybe ted roof.
12/7/2006 7:31:32 PM
^maybe b/c he left a 9-3 for a 3-9 team???Just a thought...
12/7/2006 7:34:34 PM
but he's not leaving a 9-3 team for a 3-9 team. he's leaving a craptastic program for a program with resources and facilitieshe's leaving a 9-3 team with fans who wanted him out for a team that can really go nowhere but up and with a decent coach, could go up quickly
12/7/2006 7:37:25 PM
its not a lateral move by any means....hes got boat loads of talent here compared to BC...he was tired of the lack of fan base at BC... him coming here means we can go to bigger bowls and get national respect that he couldn't get at BC-remember last year they beat us but they weren't selected to meinke bowl, we were, cause they knew we could sell more tickets
12/7/2006 7:43:08 PM
i'd agree that it's a lateral move for him.right now, NCSU football is at best, equal to BC, and more realistically, a bit lower in the last few years. The only thing we got over them right now (statistically) is more players in the NFL, which doesn't really mean much except as something for alumni to talk about.[Edited on December 7, 2006 at 9:33 PM. Reason : aaet]
12/7/2006 9:31:11 PM
your completely wrong, we have a ton of talent here compared to BC and a strong fan base...its just that some of our players are not disciplined, and we loose our edge in the fourth quarter...if he can develop a qb like he did with the hasselback brothers, we will be set...he might have a better first year than second or third
12/7/2006 10:02:10 PM
did you see the word "statistically?"my point is that our program is really no better than theirs in terms of performance. yes, we have more talent and a bigger/better fan base, but unless you turn that in to Ws, it doesn't mean shit. Do we have more potential to be a better football program than BC? fuck yes.Are we there now? hell no.hence, it's a lateral move for him, but with more growth potential.
12/7/2006 10:08:24 PM
how is it a lateral move then if we have more talent/fans/alumni$/potential...wouldn't that be a step up for him?-oh yeah hed be making more money.... thats def. a step up
12/7/2006 10:12:41 PM
well in that case, Herb to Arizona State was a step up, genius...
12/7/2006 10:15:23 PM
this "step up/down/sideways" argument is too subjective to decide, and having a debate on it is irrelevant unless you lose a bet and have to be a panelist on cold pizza
12/7/2006 11:58:54 PM
how is arizona state a step up...nc state has ten times more fan base, and we could pay him more, "if we wanted to", he left so we did not heckle him/he was tired of all this shit people were talking about him not winning against duke and carolina (rightfully so, they currently are bigger powerhouses in basketball than we are)....however, coaching in the acc is by far better than coaching in the pac 10 (how many times do you hear analysts talking about the best conference in basketball being the pac 10, none)...now thats by far a step down for herb, youre crazier than hell if you think it was a step up....~genius
12/8/2006 12:49:56 AM
oh yeah...throught 2002-2006 only Duke had more ACC wins than HERB, name a couple of schools in the PAC 10 that could come into the ACC and do that~ genius
12/8/2006 12:55:28 AM
you were the one who claimed that more money = step up.I'll fill in one blank for you. Herb got a significant pay raise to go to ASU. I hope you can work out the rest.
12/8/2006 1:12:46 AM
yeah but he also said
12/8/2006 7:01:45 AM
JUST LEAVE HERB OUT OF THIS FOR CHRISSAKES>
12/8/2006 7:06:24 AM
buffalosweat, please dont argue w/ BobbyDyou are not going to win
12/8/2006 8:54:32 AM
I've never considered a 50% salary increase a lateral move. Not to mention that we have better athletes, facilities, and a better fanbase.
12/8/2006 9:00:07 AM
dont argue with anybody???why the hell are people on this website then, if we all agreed on everything then there wouldn't be anything to talk about. i dont give a damn what bobby d thinks, im just trying to express my thoughtsi did say if "we wanted to" we could pay him more, i cant help no one wanted to pay herb, so he went to ASU, but he lost the talent, recruiting, national respect, conference competition (for most part ucla and cal)in goingto asu, so it was a step downif you think money automatically means a step up for the coach...then say a headcoach for a DI school leaves that school to go to a DIII (only for the money), is that a step up, just becasue hes getting more moeny?imagine that same coach going from a DI school to the nFL (only for the money), is that a step up?
12/8/2006 12:11:19 PM
12/8/2006 12:23:02 PM
the fact is, 9-3 @ BC got him the Meinike (sp?) crap bowl, whereas 9-3 here would have gotten him the gator bowl. I think that in itself indicates a step up from his previous program.
12/8/2006 1:03:18 PM
noim pretty sure it makes the move potentially a step up.not a step up.
12/8/2006 1:05:33 PM
well, its obviously a step up in the eyes of the people in charge of the respective bowls.
12/8/2006 1:10:17 PM
look, we're an engineering school so i'm gonna set this up in some simple mathTOB POTENTIAL at NC State = POTENTIAL step upcanceling out common variables since Potential = Potential, we getTOB POTENTIAL at NC State = POTENTIAL step upthus,TOB at NC State = step up
12/8/2006 1:11:46 PM
^ thats air tight

12/8/2006 1:17:32 PM
