Personally, I voted for mostly democrats in the last election as my means of protesting the war.

He went into it knowing that it was a futile act. If he had wanted to genuinely make a difference in the world he would have done something useful.

It comes down to a guy wanting to commit suicide but wanting to feel like his life served a purpose.

Agreed, especially considering that there are many more effective ways to protest the war... like Supplanter mentioned, the last election is a good example. Poor guy didn't even make a blip on the national media radar.

^good thing i skip over everything you write

obviously one can support the war in many ways. however, simply stating that you support the troops or putting a yellow magnet on your car does not accomplish a damn thing.

its about as futile as typing on a message board or burning yourself alive to protest the war

I think that more anti-war people should set themselves on fire. And in fact, they should REFUSE to extinguish themselves until after the war is over. I think this would make a great political statement, and should be done immediately!
