The James Jamerson bass book is all you need.

seriously? I mean...a book?

teaching yourself is the best way......well except maybe in your case

Get a 4 string (nothing more to start for the love of god) and you can teach yourself if you mess around with it enough and try to play with your favorite songs.

$30 is prolly the cheapest you'll find but like they've said above teaching yourself is the best way to learn if you've got any natural talent. Starting to play bass is a lot easier than starting guitar or drums imo.

i'll teach you for $15 a lesson.

teach yourself! it's bass. buy a video if you want (for technique), but go online and get some bass tabs. you'll be surprised how easy it becomes

Most people don't need bass lessons.I mean, it's bass. Just play it.
