Most 2008 candidates will still compete in the Iowa caucuses...earlier polls showed that Iowans weren't that supportive of his aspirations for higher office.That said, Vilsack worked to ensure an unprecedented Democratic streak in Iowa's recent elections. He worked to ensure that Democrats maintained the governor's mansion. Additionally, Democrats won both chambers of the legislature in Iowa, something that hasn't been done there in like 40 years. So, if you're Vilsack, the proverbial iron couldn't get any hotter.
