10% THD = better off listening to a machine shop in operation

if you put the watts into those speakers needed to hit 10% THD you wont hear a god damn thing, good or bad.

Even 1% THD at mid-range power levels is not very good. 10% at or around full power is generally considered unacceptable for a home-theatre system even if full power is stupidly loud. This is a system I could stand to watch tv and some movies on with some friends, but I would not listen to music on something like this. Even the music scores in some movies will be noticeably distorted espescially at high volumes. The brass and strings out of something like lord of the rings are where you'd be most likely to notice the high THD.

THD isn't a good way to judge receiver/amp quality though, but manufacturer specs listing 1 and 10% THD's makes this thing kind of suspect. You didn't plan on this being your main home-theatre system right?

lay off, chief. i asked because i was curious about what others consider to be a quality system. slickdeals is nice, but not if you don't know what you'd need to look for.

That system also doesn't have any digital inputs to accept a surround sound signal from a cable/satellite box.

Pretty much all systems in that price range though will have the 10% THD.
