Associated PressThe Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees have agreed on a preliminary deal that would send all-world 3B Alex Rodriguez to Detroit for Jeremy Bonderman, Carlos Guillen and minor league prospect Cameron Maybin. Rodriguez, who has received the most media attention since the Yankees' early exit from the playoffs, has agreed to waive his no-trade clause to go to Detroit. Rodriguez has not been reached for comment.

11/3/2006 10:48:50 AM
this could be interesting
11/3/2006 10:49:24 AM
you would have to think A-Rod would jump at this offer, and I think the Tigers should go for it tooIt is a no-brainer on the Yankees end.
11/3/2006 10:49:56 AM
one of my friends emailed me that while Im at workhe's not the guy to screw around so I am semi taking this seriouslyI dont like giving up maybin th0 [Edited on November 3, 2006 at 10:50 AM. Reason : .]
11/3/2006 10:50:11 AM
oh shityou have the chance to trade the best player over the past few years to the team with the best pitching last year, and thats all you are getting for him?i dont know about this
11/3/2006 10:56:21 AM
btw i emailed him back looking for a linkif anyone finds one plz to post^ Maybin is probably the top outfield prospect in all of baseball[Edited on November 3, 2006 at 10:57 AM. Reason : .]
11/3/2006 10:56:37 AM
I was about to say, tell me more about this Maybin feller
11/3/2006 11:00:22 AM
has a cannon arm, probably the best 5 tool minor league prospect
11/3/2006 11:01:47 AM
i can see why they would take this tradebut the Yankees need to make sure they get the Matsuzaka kid out of Japan
11/3/2006 11:02:09 AM
who cares? yankees still won't win the series
11/3/2006 11:05:37 AM
the tigers can afford to give up pitching. Our minors teams are stacked
11/3/2006 11:05:55 AM
would that spot be Millers for the taking or does he still need some work before entering a starting rotation?
11/3/2006 11:07:39 AM
bondermans' spot would likely be filled by a FA or minor league phenom Humberto Sanchez
11/3/2006 11:15:16 AM
fake
11/3/2006 11:21:11 AM
i cant find anything so far
11/3/2006 11:25:52 AM
if this were real I would hate it as a tigers fan
11/3/2006 11:31:45 AM
talk about choking in the post-season
11/3/2006 11:33:02 AM
i heard this was a rumor like a week agocause like that leyland guy likes him or something[Edited on November 3, 2006 at 11:33 AM. Reason : also heard barry bonds might go to tigers too]
11/3/2006 11:33:20 AM
ive heard people mention they wouldnt be surprised if the Tigers went after him but havnt seen anything about this specific deal.. -I think alot of teams will go after Bonds just to sell tickets
11/3/2006 11:38:35 AM
Maybin is a fucking stud
11/3/2006 11:50:44 AM
He's coming to STL to move back to short stop, and we're moving Eckstein to 2nd. BACK TO BACK CHAMPS
11/3/2006 12:02:26 PM
what a relief this would bethe cubs dont need that loser, and i mean that literally
11/3/2006 12:33:11 PM
if this is true, I think it is a dumb move by the Tigers. Bonderman has #1 starter stuff and Guillen a solid hitter. Adding A-Rod gives their lineup more power, but they're already solid with guys like Inge, Monroe, Thames, Ordonez all hitting ~25 HRs/year. I just don't know why you'd fuck with that young rotation.
11/3/2006 12:37:11 PM
It can't happen soon enough....Good F-ing Ridings - A-choke
11/3/2006 12:45:44 PM
would Barry Bonds as the Yankees DH make them the most hated team to ever play any sport?
11/3/2006 12:49:44 PM
yes, especially if they snagged Junior from the Reds
11/3/2006 12:50:20 PM
huh huh huh, you said "rod" huh huh huh
Preliminary deals to me are like verbal agreements. They don't mean anything unless all of the deal is put in writing and signed in blood or with a pen.
11/3/2006 12:51:15 PM
I hate to break it to all you dumbass (more than likely bandwagon) yankee fans, but A-ROD is not the only reason you guys sucked in the post season. Your pitching is/was horrible and no one else produced in the post-season (minus game 1).
11/3/2006 12:51:56 PM
i forgot when the trade window opens in the winterim still waiting for my friend to get out of his meeting so he can tell me if he was screwing with me, which I assume he is if it hasnt broken yet
11/3/2006 12:52:55 PM
^^ you dont have to tell me i know (have known)but im not walmart or bandwagon
11/3/2006 12:54:47 PM
11/3/2006 1:10:51 PM
Nashattack - 1 - Duh....tell us something we don't already know2 - In baseball it's all about team chemistry....he doesn't mix well with the yankees 3 - he sucks in the playoffs4 - I'm no bandwagon fan....... birth to earth Yankee fan
11/3/2006 3:26:07 PM
yea another bullshit rumor....a-rod is not going anywhere.
11/3/2006 3:39:19 PM
11/3/2006 3:40:36 PM
better be a rumor, i dont want to lose bonderman
11/3/2006 3:48:19 PM
11/3/2006 4:42:54 PM
this would be cool to see
11/3/2006 4:58:04 PM
my friend was fucking with me but it is a rumor that was floating around on some rumor sitesthat bastard i am glad for it not to have happened, but it did help the day go by at work so I salute him
11/3/2006 6:11:55 PM
A ROD TO THE CUBS!!!!!!1
11/3/2006 10:01:47 PM
^ I would kill somebody. I don't want him on my team, I'd rather have Aramis back again than him
11/3/2006 10:36:08 PM
haw haw.
11/3/2006 10:50:39 PM
Bonderman is still young and is very good right now.Hell I would almost take Guillen at shortstop, he was the Tigers MVP this year. Throw in the minor leaguer=bad trade for the Tigers, a team that is looking for POSTSEASON success.
