Okay as a NCSU alum, and current NCCU grad student..I must say I was the only person in that aweful as hell sea of blueness, and Saint Aug's hung with UNC for like the first 9 minutes of the first half and then it was ALL OVER!

So eventhough the place only had around 13, 800 in the dean dome...Im thinking....Is UNC 'really' this damn good or is St. Augustine's really this damn bad? But, I ahve to say Ill take a game in the RBC center any day of the week...even though I had kick ass seats..there's nothing else like being in Reynolds Coliseum when we drop a slam, or a dunk on a Dukie or Tyler Hansbrough....man I was glad when the game was over!

But all i ahev to say is , from seeing UNC's freshmen class....I just have to say DAMN!!! Our guys better be ready!!

GO PACK!

greg oden plays for ohio state and if not for the new rules, would have been the number 1 pick in june's draft...ohio state plays unc in the acc/big 10 challenge but he is hurt and will be sidelined for the game

Its a Division I ACC team vs a Division II school...and the final was 110-79 I think? If anything, its probably an impressive showing by St. Augs to put 79 on an ACC team.

so I was just reading the game review on WRAL's website. St. Aug's shot 38% and managed to score 80 points on UNC. So if St. Aug's shoots even 50% in this game, the score is 110-103. I would say that UNC doesn't play much defense..... or St. Aug's can't shoot for anything...??

Phoenix Suns mentality, score more than you do

Yes, but will UNC have trouble if they play a team that forces them into some bad shots?

I'm assuming St. Aug's defensive athletes weren't quite on par with UNC's offense. But when they get into conference with more evenly matched teams, do you think they will have trouble, if say a team shoots 60% against them?

this game means/meant absolutely nothing.

the first 3 games of the regular season typically mean absolutely nothing.

remember 2 years ago when Santa Clara beat UNC in the season opener?
yea, they won the national championship that year.

UNC will be the team we expect them to be.

St. Augs scoring so much is a comment on the way UNC plays, not their Defense. I was at the game and they actually played decent D. They played a very agressive style, going for every steal etc. The reason for the high score is because UNC knows it can beat you when it gets a lot of possesions. This causes UNC's opponents to also have a lot of chances to score, causing them to give up a lot of points. That will be how a lot of games look for UNC. It is like any other team winning 80-49 or 90-59.

by the way,

Michigan St. about lost to Grand Valley State.
Maryland won by 1 point last night over California University of Pennsylvania.
Louisville squeaked by Georgetown of Pennsylvania.

well when unc goes and scores a in 5 seconds each time they make the game have an amazingly large number of possessions. so if unc didnt score so fast st aug wouldve had a lower score. the 38% shows that unc deos in fact play d.

so what you are saying is that if they didnt score as much the score would be lower

either way, building a team that simply wants to outscore the other team is not the way to build a championship team b/c there is going to be one night where you are not hitting

that is why defense is so important; you might not be shooting well one night, but you can always play defense well.

i am not saying they won't win the championship, but I give them a lot less of a chance if they do not play defense and just try to outscore everybody

UNC had 14 players score ... that means that the scrubs were out there for a good portion of the game.. regular season comes along and Roy will only rotate 8 players. Also my Carolina friend went to the game and said St. A was dropping 3 pointers left and right ... with all those 3's, if Herb's bald ass was coaching our team this year we might match up decent against them this year ... we'll have to wait & C

I don't understand why state fans would go to a UNC game to start with, unless of course you went there for graduate programs? But i'm glad you didn't like it.

A friend of mine who graduated from UNC got me a ticket, plus I like to see what NCSU is going to have to deal with when they roll into the RBC Center.
