you cannot retrieve music off an ipod through itunes, apples way of trying to stop file sharing from one person to another. there is thirdparty software out there however, to get the songs back off. if you did this on your computer that could be considered illegal seeing as how you didnt pay for the songs yourself. but there is absolutley NO way to tell if someone bought the music file themselves, or if it was given to them, or if its even a copy of bought music file

you would be safe, but for you to own it would indeed be illegal (not that i care). but considering how easy it is to download music on the net which is equally illegal, the songs are worthless, unless you are unable to do this yourself.
