^dammit man get your head out of the clouds.

we had a good o-line and maybe the best ACC QB ever for four years and chuck's best ACC finish was 4th place. he is a terrible coach. without Phil he is 1 game under .500.

whine whine whine

i hate chuck and this coaching staff as much as the next guy, but he's an alumnus. good luck getting rid of him. bitching about records on the internet may be enough to get some random fuck like herb to quit, but amato is here to stay until he starts performing like bunting, and as long as chuck keeps us medocre or better, they wont touch him.

and you need to get off my ass today, statefan. this whole "fire chuck" mentality is a fucking joke on this site and you know it.

You guys are all fucking morons. Yes Chuck is the head coach, and works mainly with the defense, and we have an excellent defense. if you want to talking about a new coach or firing one...talk about Trestman.

Chuck Amato has my support as head coach. It is not his fault that we've had some struggles this year. Amato is NC State and will be, whether you like it or not. He is IN.

"He has had a bad year"

"as long as he keeps us mediocre"

Actually he has had a bad 3 years, and in my book, has shown that the first four years were a product of Philip Rivers, not Chuck Amato.

Mike O'Cain, our last football coach, was fired in 1999 after a 6-6 season in which the AD and the administration decided that mediocrity was not acceptable at NC State. Just to note, Mike O'Cain was widely seen as one of the classiest and most respected men in the profession (not as as coach, as a person). His final three years and notable wins during that time...

1997= 6-5 Win @ #10 Syracuse
1998= 7-5 Wins vs #2 FSU, vs #11 Syracuse
1999= 6-6 Win @ #13 Texas

Compared to Amato's last three years

2004= 5-6 No notable wins
2005= 7-5 Win @ #15 FSU
2006= 3-5 No notable wins

O'Cains record was 19-16, and Amato's is 15-16. The precedent has been set. Mediocre doesn't cut it.

here, here. you people forget how well he did at first against carolina. we can get that fire back this year when we beat them.

you people need to stop being so quick to place blame on the easy targets. stop hating amato just because of his appearence and other non-football related things. if he hires this man, and i think he will, then we will get the final piece in place to be great, truly great.

O'Cain had 2 horrible seasons, i mean just HORRIBLE

we were never in big games with him. chuck keeps us in big games. you're a fool if you think Mike Cocaine is as good or better than amato. with ocain we would have lost by 50 yesterday, but with amato, we were in the game all along, as usual. we need the final piece, and the final piece is NOT MARC TRESTMAN.

I was absolutely NOT a sendek supporter. that man was an embarassment. no fire and he underacheived for nc state basketball. compare amato's bowl record to past nc state coaches. compare herb's ncaa tournament record to past coaches. amato is the best postseason fb coach for nc state ever. herb was the worst coach not named les robinson to ever coach at nc state. its all relative.

"Cowher buys in Raleigh
Coach's trust purchases home
Sam LaGrone and Chip Alexander, Staff Writer

With a Super Bowl ring newly snug on his finger, Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher has little reason to leave Pittsburgh.

But he and his family appear to be planning for a future in Raleigh.

A trust managed by his sports agency has purchased a $2.5 million home in an upscale neighborhood in North Raleigh, according to documents on file with the Wake County Register of Deeds.

The MLL Revocable Trust is managed by Frank Zecca, vice president of Octagon Financial Services in McLean, Va. The initials "MLL" may correspond to the first initials of Cowher's three daughters: Meagan, Lauren and Lindsay.

Cowher, 48, has strong ties to North Carolina. He played linebacker at N.C. State in the late 1970s. His defensive coach was Chuck Amato, now the Wolfpack's head coach.

Cowher's wife, the former Kaye Young, and her twin sister, Faye, were members of the Pack women's basketball team then and the sisters still have family in Bunn.

The Cowhers also own a summer home on Bald Head Island.

Kaye Cowher didn't confirm the family had purchased the North Raleigh house but said the family plans to live in Raleigh at some point.

"It's where we want to settle down. Raleigh is where we want to be," she said in a recent interview. "It's where we went to school, we have family and great friends there, and it's a wonderful city. We're looking into real estate there."

Estate planners can conceal residency or ownership for certain properties by creating trusts or companies to be named in public records.

Zecca would not comment on who would occupy the house. Likewise, home builder Don Collins would not comment on the buyer.

"I don't have to give out any information on anyone who buys my houses," Collins said.

The 7,400-square-foot house sits on 1.55 acres off of Norwood Road in North Raleigh.

According to the house's listing, it has five bedrooms, a built-in wet-bar, a whirlpool, a swimming pool and garage space for four cars."

I know all about Mike O'Cain. We had season tickets every year and I witnessed every game. But it is painfully obvious now that the program is not better than where it was in 1999. The object of football is not to stay close, it is to win. That is not happening right now.

First the problem was Mazzone, now the problem is Trestman. Who hired them? Who has failed to keep a consistent assistant coaching staff?

The talent level is way up from 1999, but the results are the same. To me, that says the coaching has gone down.

Everything being said, Amato is not better than O'Cain. O'Cain was fired, and Amato should be also.

Chuck is a terrible coach and should be demoted.

If the man couldn't recruit, we'd have absolutely nothing.
