Any reccomendations for a good Nissan Mechanic? I have a 99 maxima with a pretty low mileageThe service engine soon like came on a few weeks ago ( at this point the car felt a bit sluggish, but that was all, so i didnt take it in, also didnt have money)A few days ago i noticed that its runs rough when idling- 10mphIt happens maybe every other day.So basically Im looking for is a good shop that wont try to tack on other things that I dont need, or an idea of what is wrong.[Edited on October 27, 2006 at 10:26 PM. Sound like you're misfiring. Just replace your plugs and wires. The mechanic will charge you 130+ for that...

Take it by Advance or Autozone and get them to read the codes for free first.

Choice Auto Repair5618 Hillsborough St Raleigh, NC 276069192330033 Woody does good work. It may not be the cheapest, but you know what you are getting.

take it by autozone and ask them to do an "OBDII" reading it is free.Sounds like it is the MAF (mass airflow sensor) or TPS (throttle position sensor) or a vaccum leak, you probably just need to clean the sensors off with some 99% alcohol, and inspect the vaccum hoses and it will fix itself. I have seen many nissans running pooly because of this and it is really easy to fix. An OBDII reading will tell you if this is the problem. Also check around in the engine bay to make sure no wires have come unplugged. Also on my nissan occasionaly the ECU gets a little mixed up and will throw a code and idle poorly, but the next day will be fine.[Edited on October 28, 2006 at 2:51 PM.
