Well technically neither will you. [Edited on October 26, 2006 at 6:34 PM. Reason : at least on launch day. I'm sure you'd get one eventually.]

I don't think camping out is really necessary with the Wii. Nintendo's promising one million systems at launch. If they all sold out, it would be REALLY unprecedented. I'm gonna stroll up to Wal-Mart on launch day a few hours early.
10/26/2006 6:37:25 PM
^yeah you might have some trouble on day one but with as many as the big N is supposed to already have made it shouldn't be too troublesome to track down within a couple weeks

one of my friends is going to wait outside gamestop all night
10/27/2006 8:00:15 AM
That's silly. There will be enough Wiis for everyone that wants one.

nice find i guess, but really is that any surprise? almost every town has a walmart or target (to a lesser extent best buy). most eb/gamestops are gonna be in a mall which are less prominent in rural areas.
10/27/2006 11:36:22 AM
1 million on launch isn't that much. There will be about 500k PS3s and those are suppose to be in tight supply. I don't see how merely doubling that will end supply problems. For example, with the Xbox 360, which I think had similar numbers on launch, the best buy had about 10 in stock. There were easily 10 more people waiting that wanted one. If you want a Wii, you'll probably be able to get one before Christmas, but you'll have to do some work to get one on launch, i'm guessing.
10/27/2006 1:15:59 PM
Actually the numbers I've heard have been one million Wiis at launch in the US.Sony has said 400k PS3s worldwide with slightly less than half of those coming to the US. And some reports are claiming that they will have trouble meeting those numbers, whereas no such reports have been made about Nintendo. So it's really more like 1 million verses less than 200,000.
10/27/2006 1:25:52 PM
I'm still thinking Sony won't make that Nov 17th deadline
10/27/2006 1:31:56 PM
eh, they'll make it. But it may just be with 200 units worldwide.
10/27/2006 1:33:49 PM
I just haven't heard much about games coming out for the Wii, and I'm not sure how good the graphics are going to be, or even how much better than the Gamecube they will be. I would buy one in a heartbeat if they were going to support HD, but they're not, so that's the big dissapointment to me.However, when Mario Kart and Smash Brothers come out, then I'll probably have to get one, unless the whole thing stinks.
10/27/2006 1:58:31 PM
The Wii is going to support 480p widescreen, which is the best you can get out of a DVD. If DVDs look good to you, you'll be perfectly happy with a Wii.

10/27/2006 2:19:12 PM
^^ They don't look good anymore after comparing to HD. I know this is picky, but I've got a 1080p ready tv, so I want to have a console that is going to be putting out HD picture quality. just my opinion though. Nintendos lack of expensive fatures and HD quality will be all apart of what makes this a successful console.I love Nintendo and I think its going to be a great system as long as there are a lot of good games, and they are able to get some good fun use out of that controller.
10/27/2006 2:26:38 PM
a lot of the problem you see in DVD is due to compression artifacts - not the resolutionthe Wii will not have compression artifacts
10/28/2006 10:31:51 AM
Nintendo really planned this one outthe Christmas shopping moms will be looking for a $texas and unfindable PS3, then they'll see a $250 Wii and be like, hey!
10/28/2006 10:42:50 AM
and the kids will be like, "WTF I HATE YOU"
10/28/2006 11:00:35 AM
lawls
10/28/2006 11:35:55 AM
seriously. you underestimate the power of a whiney kid. even if it is a game system it is much cheaper and not hyped to be the power box the ps3 is.[Edited on October 28, 2006 at 11:38 AM. Reason : it'll help sales, but it wont put nintendo through the roof.]
10/28/2006 11:38:32 AM
^ No dizzleI know because some rich mom in New Jersey paid me close to $900 for an Xbox 360 last year when the kid could've had something way more awesome for $900. And that was sans games.[Edited on October 28, 2006 at 11:43 AM. Reason : .]

10/29/2006 7:28:15 AM
itd be like getting an acura cake when you wanted a ferrari
10/29/2006 8:38:12 AM
my parents gave me an atari when i asked for a nintendo.i still havent forgiven them.
10/29/2006 8:40:12 AM
the difference is that any kid asking for a ps3 is obviously fucking retarded. First, for expecting their parents to spend $600+ dollars on them (esp. on a single item); and second, for actually wanting a system that will have no games at launch and only one worth playing any time soon.
10/29/2006 10:07:50 AM
which would imply that the kid's parents are also idiots and cater to his every whim
10/29/2006 10:25:15 AM
Just called Crossroads Toys-R-Us...all preorders gone, and they have been open 30 min.[Edited on October 29, 2006 at 10:39 AM. Reason : ::]
10/29/2006 10:38:50 AM
well, if you consider the rate at which preorders are selling out, for the wii, i wonder how long these units will take to physically sell out on launch day
10/29/2006 11:06:57 AM
It'll be alright. Fuckin best buys are averaging like 60-90 units per store. Then you got walmarts and targets and the other big box shops that will have an assload.
10/29/2006 2:55:40 PM
yeah i really cant wait to see the bitch fest go down when everyone who bought those retarded 1080p televisions with bullshit cheap ass scalers built in try to play a wii. they dont do a good job deinterlacing 1080i much less deinterlacing then scaling 480i.that shit will look so bad. pull out your analog crt sets .
10/30/2006 12:00:45 AM
I love my 108p tv. I think it looks great.
10/30/2006 9:00:48 AM
I work at toys r us in the video games section, they hate their employees, I wasn't even allowed to wait for one, and I have to put up with all the shit of working there, it sucks. The first people in line bought a ps3 pre-order and wii pre-order and 2 tickle me elmo TMXs. They rang them all up separate, they are going to make a killing.[Edited on October 30, 2006 at 11:54 AM. 10/30/2006 11:51:47 AM
target in cary will have 60 wii's on launch day...there was a thread on ign that had each specific store's amounts listed...not that i want one, but figured you people would want to know.
11/5/2006 2:31:04 PM
Okay, people we're talking about the Wii's DVD abilities...but I never saw anything in its specs that even mentioned it played DVDs.
11/5/2006 3:00:24 PM
^it doesn't
11/5/2006 3:45:35 PM
Don't be that guy.
11/5/2006 3:58:12 PM
so are stores such as best buy, target, etc.... giving out wiis at midnight to first come first serve customers? or opening at normal business hours? i'm normally not "that guy" who stands in a line to get the first ones, but zelda is worth it
11/5/2006 7:27:51 PM
i bet asking in multiple threads will make the answers come quicker...
11/5/2006 7:30:29 PM
yeah i didn't see this until i posted in the other thread :-D
