412 is great406 sucks because of the teacher, but their is a diff teacher coming in to teach the second half of the class, so i think it will improve421, same teacher for 406 teaches this class, I've heard good things but i wont take iti dont think 410 exists anymoreim taking 442, and 403 in the spring, thats all i got
10/23/2006 11:37:26 AM
remember that those aren't taught every semester403 Air Conditioning - spring404 Refrigeration - doesn't show up as being offered406 Energy Conservation in Industry - fall407 Steam and Gas Turbines - spring408 Internal Combustion Engine Fundamentals - fall410 Convective Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow - doesn't show u pas being offered421 Design of Solar Thermal Systems - spring442 Automotive Engineering - spring[Edited on October 23, 2006 at 12:07 PM. 410 isnt offered anymore. it was supposed to be "combined" with 310 but some 310 profs wont teach anythin other than what they're required to.air con is at 8am so if u have an issue with 8am classes, this is not for u. it's early because i believe gould is teaching it and he has to get back to his duties as dept head after class.
10/23/2006 12:32:06 PM
there's no way I'd take 410 anyway, I didn't like 310unfortunately, the only section offered of 442 is closed! And I'd like to take 403 but the 8am is a deal breaker
10/23/2006 3:01:49 PM
im taking 403because it was between that and 407and 407 is full
10/23/2006 3:02:21 PM
442 is closed, shit figured it would be
10/23/2006 3:12:56 PM
think there's a chance the instructor will let me in? it must be a small class to be closed so quick
10/23/2006 3:15:44 PM
depends on what room it is in
10/23/2006 3:16:59 PM
442 isnt a small class, it has something like 80-90 kids in there, at least thats how many seats I saw open when I registered for it. 407 i think is gonna be a small one tho.

i liked 421, the project was pretty cool, the tests were pretty straightforward (although you have to pay attention to some conceptual things that he discusses in class), and the homework is not too bad
10/24/2006 9:34:18 AM
442 is the easiest course I think I've ever had in MAE....no tests and I spent about an hour, maybe two hours a week on homework, and the final project was easy. If you can get in take 442
10/24/2006 4:49:32 PM
I don't think they'll let anyone else in 442. It was 90 seats, they upped it to 100 and the extra 10 seats got taken too.
10/24/2006 11:01:09 PM
wtf, how did so many people get to register ahead of me?
10/25/2006 12:53:50 AM
i have 120-something hours, i got to register on the first day it was great
10/25/2006 1:32:47 AM
^ Same, registered on day 1. I have 144 hours to date and yet I haven't graduated, lol. Damn dual degree program.
10/25/2006 4:12:51 AM
if only I'd thought of it, I could've asked one of my super senior friends to sign up for 442 and then drop it later guess I'll hound tracs for an open spot, out of 100 people someone will drop it (I hope) ]
10/25/2006 8:16:18 AM
^ that doesnt work if there is a waitlist
10/25/2006 1:09:46 PM
Having 111 credit hours in ME should be considered junior status[Edited on October 25, 2006 at 1:19 PM. Reason : 412 is a good class, it probably has seats open]
10/25/2006 1:18:38 PM
[no]
10/25/2006 1:23:07 PM
442 is ok...when i took it they didnt have a fucking book....
10/25/2006 6:42:55 PM
^ hope it stays that way, I'll save a hundred and fifty bucks!
10/25/2006 11:48:28 PM

i took 408 with affify back in the day. its a pretty neat class, it really just thermodynamics as it applies to the ICE. when i was in school, 410 and 412 were both required classes. neither were terribly difficult.
